I'm a bit untrained and don't often do any washing but I want to wash the baby clothes - it says wash with similar colours on all of the things, but what does that mean...

e.g i have a cream sleepsuit with pink flowers and a winnie the pooh motif, is that going to be ok in the same wash as a baby pink sleepsuit....

any ideas...

All depends how pink the other suit is. If it is dark pink then you should wash it separately because the dye will run. If it is light, pastel pink, I would be surprised if it ran. I usually do light colours/creams together and not had a problem.

Hope that helps.

thanks :) it is a pale pink!

Also, drying them... some say tumble dry low heat - that i can do...

some say don't tumble dry... am i best hanging them on the line...

P.S I really should know all this

Awww, don't worry, I am always asking for advice that might seem obvious to other people. That is why the forum is so great!

Yeah, best not to tumble things that say not too. It will keep them looking nicer, longer.

I'm drying all baby stuff on the line- I'm a bit of a fiend when it comes to shrinking things in the tumble dryer!

 don't worry. practice makes perfect

hello

i dont have a tumble drier, will be line or clothes horse for me....argh
my house will be covered in baby clothes

i think radiators will shrink baby stuff so going to avoid that

i have a book also that says wash stained baby stuff at 60degrees such as sheets etc...

x

I'm scared of out tumble drier!!!
It shrinks everything, though things do come out nice and soft, hmmmm, i'll prob dry all her stuff on the line, and  for some wind cos otherwise stuff goes a little hard.

As for washing, im really careless, i put anything pastel and cream and white in same wash and darks in together.

I doubt this will apply but i washed a black dress for the first time yesterday along with other black stuff and my joggers have now got a grey waistband (was pink) from the dye, so stuff like that need washing seperately at first.

How do i know all this??? I live with my parents and dont do washing generally, OMG i've turned in to a mum :rotfl:

I do pastels, creams and white all in together. Even slightly darker colours in with this once they have been washed a few times. Only on 30 oe 40C so it should not run.

Anything navy, black, dark green etc goes in on a 30C wash together.

Things like bright pink I'd put in a coloureds wash with other similar colours. But once they have been washed and worn a few times I tend to lump them all in the 'lights' wash with the whites.

I do everything together on 40°C and nothing's ever run... BUT if there is a NEW COLOURED item of clothing then I do it separately or with dark towels first a couple of times to drain excess colour.

I've never had a washing accident yet though and I really can't be ar5es separating everything out.

Thanks guys! I am about to go put my first load of baby clothes on - woooo!
I bought some fairy non-bio the other day, after staring at all the different colours and makes and brands for a while.. lol. I am SO new to this!

It's looking ok weather-wise so i can hang some things out later and then move them to radiators after if they need it.

The only washing i normally do is the bed clothes! My mum has her systems and so i leave her to it usually!

As this is the first time i'm washing these i'm going to be a bit careful with the colours. I managed to get a loads worth of creams/ very pale pinks that should be fine so yay for that!

P.S it's shown me just how many baby clothes we have (oops)

Wait until you try to hang out or hang up mittens and socks to dry :D
Thay're so small and cute! And a bit unstable. If you can't hang them out, we put muslins on the radiator then put thm on top :D

I've shrunk or changed the colour of many clothes through the years

I normally try and avoid using the tumble dryer, apart from for sheets and towels as it usually shrinks stuff. I dry as much as I can on the line, or inside on a clothes airer.

i cant do without my tumble dryer.
i have 2 kids that go through a lot of clothes in the day!!!
i do about 2/3 loads of washing every day so i tumble dry everything, it all goes so soft. i hate line drying as its like putting on cardboard once its dry - not good for delicate skin.
i dry on a low heat and i have never had anything shrink but very delicate things get hung up indoors by the radiator.
its each to their own i think with washing and drying.

i wash every thing together and tumble dry it all too lol soooooooooo lazy

i dont think its lazy, its hard when theres kids around there just isnt enough time in the day to do everything!!!
i dont put darks with whites but im not too fussy on everything in between lol!!!

well maybe not lazy... i wud call it lazy when i start putting harriets nappies in with my panties :rotfl:
