Hi ladies I've had a night from hell :( lo has done nothing but want to feed, I was that desperate for sleep I even got a dummy ( I didn't want to give him one while so early on in bf) which he doesn't really like and I hate. The result was me on tears while watching him suckle a dummy. I know this is irrational but I just don't like them.

DH kept trying to help but LO just wanted me. I came so close to giving formula it was unreal. However I've done some googling and it turns out he could be going through a growth spurt which could last 2-3 days. I'm praying he settles a little tonight I don't want to give up but can't cope with no sleep.

Sorry for pointless post just feeling emotional and tired x x

Hugs! It will get vetter! Do't worry about the dummy. We caved and gave it a few times but now she spits it right out lol.

We've all been there it's hard work but trust me it's so worth it! I look at my bouncy 10 week old and I feel so proud that it was all me nourishing my chub of a boy!
Try and get naps when you can in the day time. Lay on your bed with him and feed him laying down in the day and nap when he is.

Growth spurts are such hard work! We did give in and give a bottle of formula. He calmed down after 24 hours but I was exhausted and so emotional. Do whatever you need to do to keep your sanity but it doesn't last long. Don't beat yourself up about dummy, you need a break and if that gives you 5 minutes peace then its fine. Joe has one sometimes but he isn't overly keen - would much rather have a boob but sometimes I (and my nipples) need a break x

Don't know if it will make you feel any better about giving a dummy, but they have been linked to reducing the risk SIDS so they do have a positive use :)

And a huge well done for continuing to BF it's definitely hard work when they have growth spurts.

Hang in there, growth spurts are he'll but they pass, just keep remembering that. Kynon has just had one too so I've had a week of feeding all day and night, his record was 7 feeds a few nights ago but he's back to the regular 4 a night now which I can just about cope with! Drink, eat and rest when you can, and don't expect too much of yourself, number one job is to feed baby just now x. I hate dummies too, not sure why either but if it helps for a few days to see you through don't feel guilty they are supposed to reduce SIDS so not a bad thing, you can take it away in a few days. Must admit I've got into the habit of letting Kynon use me as a comfort which a lot of bf mummies do and long as your happy with that it's not a problem. I also do some feeds lying down so I can snooze a bit which helps too x

I didnt wanna give Henry a dummy but he only had it for 2 nights and won't take it now.

I did cave in once and gave him formula but he only had 1 mouthful and spit it straight back up. Day 5 was Henry's worst, and I felt so ba ad DH couldn't help me or him. It was really difficult as those were the days my nipples were cracked and bleeding, but it is so much better now.

Don't give up sue. Us women r strong and the benefits to us and our lo's r so worth it. The bonding is amazing and I feel so close to my little man. U can do it, just take each feed as it comes, relax and don't beat urself up about giving him a dummy. It was a godsend on the bad days, and on a good day he won't take it at all. On a bad day e spits it out after he has fallen asleep.

Awww  it can be so tough but I agree with all the other ladies, it's worth it I it's only a couple of tough nights it will get easier and you and the LO will get into a rhythm as time goes on - it's still early days.

As for the dummy, I think we've all given in at one point of another. Because I was in hospital for quite a while and had some issues there, I gave in one night because I was exhausted. And DH has done a few times too. We don't like them either but for no good reason, pacifiers have lots of positives but I think sometimes us mums are made to think we're bad for using them to settle our babies when actually they're just useful! We however have left it a little late as Ariel now doesn't understand how to suck them lol!

Thank you ladies, I honestly don't know what I'd do without you guys. I've dusted myself down and now preparing for tonight.
Fx tonights a little better :) x x
