My DS has started to vomit a bit after his feeds. I thought breastfeeding would cause less vomit and he also wouldn't overfeed and therefore less likely to vomit.

It's now getting a regular occurrence post feed. I do try and wind him lots after a feed but he more than likely vomits after.

He's nearly 4 weeks and and it could be that my supply is up and he's just trying to adjust to it?

Any of you ladies have vomiting breastfed babies? Any ideas?

H used to throw up tons until I realised I was overfeeding him, I used to fight to get him back on the boob once he pulled off but now I just follow his lead

He is still a very sicky baby, we go through at least 1 bib & 2 muslins at every feed & I have to change his clothes quite frequently, but its definitely improved since I've stopped overfeeding.

I think its dependent on the baby to be honest.

But reflux is another thing that can cause sickiness does he have any other signs?

Thank you.

Yes I was thinking I was over feeding him rather than anything else. He feeds really quickly now so I keep thinking he not fed for long enough. Will start following his lead from now and see what happens.

Don't think it's reflux. Not seen any other signs. Am hoping its not anyways. Xx

My lo did that at around that age and at around 11 weeks.
I took her to the doctor and they said it was reflux and prescribed Gaviscon. I didn't give it to her at 5 weeks as I didn't believe the GP.
Anyway when she was 5 weeks she would be sick after most of her feeds and that lasted for almost a week. Then she had a feeding frenzy cluster feed at 6 weeks which was the 6 week growth spurt. I've done a bit of research and read that the flap of the oesophagus didn't grow at the same pace as the rest of her stomach so couldn't hold the milk down - so essentially it was reflux but it quickly sorted itself out.
The exact same thing happened when lo was 11 weeks, she was sick for a week and then the 12 week growth spurt kicked in.

She's never been like that since, just the odd posseting. Also it never affected her weight and every month she would gain and during the month where she was sick at 11 weeks jumped from the 75th to the 91st centile.
So as hard as it is, try not to worry too much hun.
Xxx

Thanks Hun. I'm hoping it won't last. Nice to hear your story tho. Will try not worry xx

Cecilia was bottle fed breast milk up to a few days ago but now she is going directly on the boob. She was fine when she was having the bottle but now she's sick all the time, especially if I give her a bottle now. I think her sucking technique has changed because she used to have a dummy but since she has gone on the boob the dummy makes her choke.

If it's happening after you lie them down raising the mattress up one end is meant to help too. Rather than lying them totally flat. Xx

I have a sicky bf baby. She also brings up some really impressive burps. Like you I was surprised cos I was also of the understanding that bf babies didn't get much wind and wasn't usually sick after feeds. I have mentioned it to hv and the dr yesterday at our 6 week check, but neither of them seem concerned. Just said she is probably taking a little too much more than she needs n so is sicking up the excess xx
