Hi all
Alexander is now 5 days old and EBF. He is quite a windy baby and so often will bring back milk up after a feed.

However he has just brought up a brownish sick. Not loads and not projectile, but does anyone have any experience with this? Is it normal? Hope I'm just being a paranoid new mum x

Oscars windy Hun! No brownish sick advice ? Ask MW just to be safe

However I wind Oscad half say through a feed and keep him upright afterwards for 20 mins or so and it helps loads

I've also introduced colief drops to help him break down the lactose as he was struggling! My boobs are flowing to quick for him - esp my let down so I have to help him and try to stop him gulping loads of air etc :/

I'm having this problem too! Alex will cough and splutter on my letdown and then suffer with terrible wind afterwards. I usually take him off as soon as this happens, attempt to wind him and then put him back on for the rest of the feed, I'm going to see if he gets used to my flow over the weekend, but if not I have the MW coming to weigh him on Tuesday so I will ask for r&r advice then.

I rang the hospital last night and they said so long as it's a one off its fine, have been monitoring today but there don't seem to have been any other issues. They said that it could be blood from delivery... Which to me is alarming after 5days but hey-ho!

Are your nipples cracked or anything? Could have been abit of blood?

My MW said that baby and body will adjust over time - I'm feeding him mainly lent back with him on my chest - try it - that way he only swollows back what he wants with the rest usually running down my boob! He doesn't seem to struggle with lieing on his side either :)

Changing positions so he isn't lend back with a nipple firing down his throat has helped loads!

Apart from that how you finding it ? :) x

It could've been - we've had nothing else since so hoping that's the end of it!!
I feel as though he's getting used to it the poor thing, seems to be a bit easier on him now that my boobs aren't so engorged!
That makes sense - he's fine on his back but will def try with him on top!

We're doing great - he had night and day mixed up for a few days but we seem to have sorted it now thankfully :) How are you two getting on? x

Great! Really well! Hubby back to work today so am going to get the breast pump out and have a go at expressing so he can do a night feed on a weekend to give me abit of sleep! Would be nice to go from 10 till 5.30ish

Glad to hear all is well your end and no more brown! :)
