Hi everyone,

Last night after sex I had the most horrendous contraction type cramps that lasted for over an hour. They were so painful that I was sick and I could get no relief from them at all. I still have pain in my lower pelvic area this morning but it just feels tender. Im going to give it till tomorrow and if still painful go to the doctors but was just wondering if anyone had experienced this before?

Hi Shell bell,

I had this once after dtd and lord was it uncomfortable

It was similar to what you described and i ended up taking some painkillers, so eventually the pain did subside.

If it does continue, i would defo go see your GP.

I cant imagine its normal, but i have only ever had it maybe twice ever, so i am not worrying x

It can be a wound inside your vagina, nothing to worry, my sister had one. You should go to the GP for a visit and see what he will suggest, especially if you are in TTC , it is important that everything is healthy as much as possible

Sunflower1 That thought did cross my mind but I already took a test last week and it was negative - Could be worth doing another though xx

How many dpo are you?

Im not actually sure as I took a couple of ovulation tests around the time that my app told me to and they were negative - my period should have come last week and thats why i took the pregnancy test but that was negative too. x

Keep testing. It can take a while to get a pos. Also if the cramping continues see a doctor in case of infection or something. Do u have any other symptoms of infection?

No not that Im aware of - Do you know what I should be looking out for? Ill try testing again next week and see - Thanks for this I really appreciate it x

The usual signs and symptoms, sore boobs? maybe a bit of implantation bleeding?just anything out the order really, but you could also have no symptoms and still be pregnant, you just never know, but just ensure you do get seen to if it continues.

Symptoms of infection are high temperature, tiredness, pain, swollen, nausea and/or vomit, in some cases (example UTI) confusion. Good to check with a doctor and, maybe, you can ask for blood test for pregnancy

and there was me thinking she wanted the signs of pregnancy  wake up IVW :wall2:

Did you have an orgasm?

If you did there are a few reasons why you might experience cramps.

First, when a woman orgasms, there are contractions of the muscles of the uterus. (If she is having her period, these may be more intense, causing a cramping feeling).
The other thing to think about if this is happening is the presence of endometriosis. In this condition, scar tissue can form on the outside of the uterine muscle. Since this tissue is not elastic, contractions of the muscle to which it is attached causes a "tugging" of the tissues, causing a cramping feeling.
Fibroids can also give a cramping feeling on orgasm if they become large.

Since orgasm tends to be intense, many people will tense their large muscles sometimes resulting in a cramp. This can occur in the legs, hips, buttocks or back. Usually stretching out afterwards is all that is needed, although physical conditioning and strengthening through exercise is always recommended to prevent this.

Not a nice experience at all

Your cervix moves a lot during your cycle and after dtd before I have had the most incredible pain in my uterus, where I could barely walk! It’s caused by a bruised cervix, which can be caused by particularly hard/deep penetration or maybe you were just very sensitive that day. This happened a couple of times and we quickly learnt that certain positions are a no go at certain times of the month. The female body is a strange thing!

I think this is what might have happened to me actually. I was thinking it felt like my uterus / cervix area had a bit of a bashing.
I think OH gets a bit of keen sometimes

Hi Ladies,

Had my check up with the doctor and she seem to think it could be related to the mirena removal back in May - I have to go for a scan this week just to rule out ovarian cysts. Im defo not pregnant though as dreaded mother nature crept up on me last night so hopefully this will be my month :) Thanks for all the advice ladies, much appreciated and baby dust all round .x
