Hi Girls and Bumps,

I had a similar experience 2 weeks ago also...

Today I got up and kept having low stabbing pains that took my breath away and stopped me in my tracks. I constantly feel like I need a wee also. When I walk the stabbing pain catches me off guard...

Could it be the baby engaging? I am nearly 34 weeks on my second baby....do you think it is too soon for engagemnt?

if its like a stabbin pain when u walk it sounds like bubs maybe engaged thats how i knew and mw confirmed it

ooooh how excitin but they do say second babies engage later but not in all cases

xx

i made a thread about this the other day! i've been having exactly the same feelings, a stabbing in my hips & like baby's banging something on my cervix. no idea what it is though, i thought engaging, too! going to ask the MW about it on monday :)

does anyone know how they find out if babies engaged? if it's something internal i might have a go at taming the lady garden :rotfl:

Oh my God, Charlotte - the lady garden!!!! It is usually very neat (when not pregnant). It is probably like a full grown, out- of-shape hedge by now!!! No action in the bedroom has also meant I have been lazy with the ladyshave!! :?

Will have to do something about that - but I can hardly reach down there!!

Skyraa - I also heard that on second babies the head rarely engages until actual labour - perhaps I am an exception to the rule because something is definately happening down there - it is also bloody painful!!!! :x

it's only in about the last month it's become an issue, i could reach pretty well, but now not only can i not see it, but i can't really reach either, think i'll have to get the mirror out. but, yes, i've not been in the mood for lovin' too much either, haha, so i've given up!

Its not an internal so don't worry about pruning your lady garden!
M/W will just basically feel around and press really hard around the pelvis area, she will be feeling for their head and she might feel for the hands and feet too.
Hope that helps :)

Does she not do this already to you Charlotte? Grabs and shakes lol near your pubic bone? Thats her seeing if babs is engaged!

I have to say I have these stabbing shooting pains up my lady garden lol and my LO isnt engaged nor is she likely to till near labour! But she is head down and I think she just puts pressure on my cervix!
Its so god damn horrid though isnt it! I have it almost constant when im walking around! I have to cry out OUCH too which doesnt help! First time my OH looked at me funny I said (with kinda raised voice  ) "it feels like a rusted iron bars being shoved up my flu I think you would shout Ouch too!!" lmao! :rotfl: Poor man! But poor me more! It hurts!

aww yeah i been gettin this loads too... at first i thought it was head engaging but then have had a few appointments for ultrasound and also midwive's and he's still free down there... head is very very low though so guess he's just doin headstands on me cervix lol :D hurts though don't it ladies!!!

i get it mostly when i'm walking too, lea! it must be gravity doing it's thing, lol.

Sounds like its engaging... this has been happening to me over the past few days and now the baby is fully engaged :cheer:
