Hi guys so I just found Im pregnant which makes me 4weeks & 5 days. My question is about hair dye, I just dyed my hair with a hair colour which is free from amonia it was the boxed Olia branded hair dye (done at home) is tht safe?

Hello,

I dyed my hair with my two previous pregnancies, never done anything. I think the main thing is to make sure you do your skin test before using it and with bleaching your hair definitely open the windows

The concern with hair dye and pregnancy is that your skin becomes more sensitive - including scalp. If you’re fine you’re fine x

I dyed my hair in both pregnancies and never had any issues except that my roots didn't take as they used too. It was very annoying! As if my hair had changed structure or something. I don't think it's something you should worry about, but if you are concerned, you could always ask your midwife for answers.x

@Kitana Does your skin/hair get more oily when you are pregnant? My hair dresser told me not to use oil or oily products in my hair before colouring as it makes it harder for the colour to penetrate the hair.

I think that’s an individual thing, mine was really dry when I was pregnant with my son.

I did in the first and second trimester. I could wash my hair and it would still look oily. But then in the third trimester, it started to get drier and could go almost a week without washing and it would still look nice.x
