*UPDATED WITH PICS!* 12 week scan this afternoon, eek!

Ooh, it's a bit scary - I'm not sure whether I should feel excited or worried. I asked OH this morning if he was scared or excited and he said neither, just 'interested'. He's not big on emotions, as you can tell.

There's nothing in the letter about needing a full bladder, so not sure what's best. Will maybe try to avoid going then ask at reception if it's OK to go. I don't want to be bursting when I go in, I won't be able to concentrate on what's happening!

I so hope they can see something, and that I'm not just having a very long cycle!

usually for your 12 week scan you usually have to have a full bladder, i think it pushes everything up so they can see everything better.

As for the full bladder, like Sarah said you need to have it for it to push everything up and therefore getting a clearer picture of baby!

Yay, have been and seen baby! Been put back to 11&5, EDD 9th April, which isn't as far back as I thought they'd put me so v pleased

I did need a full bladder and was bursting by the time I got there! Then had to wait about 20mins for scan, so not too long really. The sonographer said straight away that she could see from the scan that my bladder was v full!

Was there about 2.5 hours in total; had to give urine sample - easy peasy after the scan - 8 tubes of blood , blood pressure check, appointment with registrar doc who was lovely and did lots of tummy feeling and listened to my chest and heart etc. So feeling pretty good now!

The baby was having an afternoon nap so the sonographer kept prodding my belly to try and wake it up and get it to stretch but she wasn’t having much luck (probably cos there was a big full bladder cushioning it!). Just as we were finishing up it started to jolt and move around a bit though, so at least we saw it move.

I really want to post my scan pics but can't figure out how to do it, can someone explain please...?

you#ll need to use something like photobucket (if you google serch it it'll come up straight away) then after uploading it from your computer use the [ /img] (without the space) code and copy and paste it to a post :D
i can't wait to see a pic :cheer: :cheer: it's my fav thing to do :lol: congrats on things being all well

OK, thanks Anna for explaining. Let's give this a go...

The bottom scan is a bit odd! It is the front of the baby - the head is on the right of the picture and the dots low down on either side of the face are the eyes, his/her legs are crossed and you can just make out the hands (fingers) above the knees, but it’s a bit freaky and alien-like. I like the top two better!
