My 3 week old seems to have developed a cold, bless him.

We had a very unsettled and teary night. I was on the verge of a breakdown because I couldn't sooth him at all. He also isn't finishing his bottles, I imagine because he can't breathe through his nose. Any tips on how I can help him? I can't imagine being awake from 2am to 8am again xx

I don't have any experience myself but when my nephew had a cold my sister put the shower on hot and sat in the bathroom with the door closed allowing it to get really steamy... This helps to unblock noses apparently.

Yeah try bathroom with plenty of steam. You can also buy a thing that sucks snot out. I know it sounds disgusting lol but it really helped both my boys x

Thanks for the tips ladies, really appreciate it xx

saline spray clears it all the way from the nose to the ears, though I find it more helpful in the day than night as when it just goes down rather than out that seemed to cause a cough last time, the sucky thing is brilliant!

You can buy drops and snuffle babe (like Vicks) which you can't put on baby but at this age you can put on a damp cloth to let vapour in the room. Also calpol do a plug in which does similar, expensive but ive found it does soothe

Caleb had a cold at 5 weeks and I hated it!
Steam from shower, saline spray (I found much better than drops), I also slightly elevated his mattress under his head by putting a thin pillow under it and put olbas oil on a bib and trod that round his snuzpod. We also have the vapour plugin. We use the snuffle balm now as well but I don't think you're supposed to use on them until their 3 months.
On the worst night I also let him sleep half the night in the bouncer as he just seemed much more comfortable!

Poor bubba. If you put a bowl of warm water in the room with Vicks in it that should help. Also snuffle balm on soles of feet and pop socks on - I don't know why but it works!
