Out of curiosity, do you know the chances of the 12 week scan missing twins is? My cousin was convinced that she was having twins but 20 week scan confirmed that she has a singleton, but it got me thinking about how possible it is to miss twins?

By 12 weeks I think a twin pregnancy would be very obvious. I think it would easily be spotted even earlier than that. Especially with the scanning machines they have these days xx

I thought the same but you sometimes hear of these stories where the second baby is tucked right up and hidden, which I think completely freaked her out. A friend of mine didn't know she was having twins until 20 weeks but that's because she didn't get a 12 week scan, Ireland doesn't scan at 12 weeks for 2nd+ pregnancies if the first baby was healthy :eh:

Oh my goodness, that would be a shocker!! Xx

She went into shock and couldn't speak for 25 minutes

I'd be surprised so late on as it's really clear on the 12 week scan, defo possible at 6 weeks etc but I'd be surprised how they could miss twins past 12 weeks of being scanned

I mean it probably happened years ago with the older machines and anything is possible but they are so good this time, and they actually check your womb and overies while they do your dating scan so they have a good old look everywhere. Id tell her not to worry id give it 99.9% chance its one baby. xx
