twinges in ovary area

Hello all,

I am approx 8 weeks now and symptoms have really kicked in this week with a lot of nausea and gas plus i'm very tired and feeling sick when I get too tired.

The reason for my post is that ever since I got my BFP I have had twinges in my right ovary area (as far as I can tell). The discomfort is around my right side and at the top of my knicker line which I am guessing is where ovary is or slightly lower. The pain is not intense and doesn't hurt as such but it is pretty constant and at times I am more aware of it than others. It doesn't feel like a cramp more like someone is pinching me in there. I am not worrying about it too much but obviously the thought of ectopic keeps popping into my mind especially as i've read that it isn't always detected even by the Mum until 12-14 weeks! I struggle to imagine that a foetus the size of a blueberry wouldn't hurt in the fallopian tubes and then I start to think that maybe these twinges are the start of pain getting worse as it grows in the wrong place.

I wonder if anyone else here has similar pains or had an ectopic and could tell me when they became aware something wasn't right?

thanks as always xx

I've had the same thing but on left. Like a week twinging pressure.
I've been told it's normal. Most people who have an ectopic and feel it say it's literally a doubling you over agonising pain. As long as you aren't in actual pain or bleeding i would say don't worry x

I had this at the beginning which I think was just related to implantation x

I had an ectopic pregnancy in March.

The pains up until it ruptured were not agonising and constant. The best way I can describe them to you is that they were like having a stitch pain every now and then. Closer to the time when it ruptured, I was having pains when going to the toilet. I will say though, if you've had no other symptoms or spotting and your symptoms are increasing it's probably unlikely. I had an underlying sense that something was not right.

I would recommend you get yourself checked out though to put your mind at rest. And be assertive with the medical staff. 2x GPs ignored my symptoms and the resulting rupture/surgery/blood loss/nearly dying has scarred me for life.

I was getting those same pains before I had my first scan to prove the baby was growing in the right place at 7.5 weeks (we had IVF so they watch you like a hawk). I wouldn't worry about it as it sounds normal. But if you are worried there are many places that do private ultrasounds from 8 weeks for £50+. So you could always get one just to reassure xxx

Hi ladies, thanks for your words of wisdom. My symptoms seem to be getting more noticeable and I have had no spotting at all but I am still getting the niggles in the same area and to touch it actually feels a little more swollen that side of my abdomen. The reason it's still on my mind is the fact that it seems to be able to go undetected until pretty late on in the pregnancy e.g. No extreme pain until a rupture!

TORINO, did you have spotting or anything else in particular that made you worried? X

I didn't get any spotting until about 3 days before it ruptured.

I should have known that something wasn't right as with hindsight I got a very strong positive really early in the cycle. Like maybe 8dpo and 2-3 weeks on a digi a day or two later. The embryo obviously implanted straight away and started growing soon after fertilisation. As the weeks passed I just had a feeling that something wasn't right. It's quite difficult to describe. I didn't have many symptoms and they seemed to fade away quite soon.

I actually have a claim for medical negligence with this as the gynae consultant said the gp did not suspect an ectopic despite me having really clear symptoms like pain on going to the toilet and one sided pain (though it did happen on both sides the niggle was on the left). When you say to the gp I'm worried about losing my tube and he tells you the tube isn't even in that place you start to question their capability when they were so wrong!

Go to the gp and explain your symptoms. I don't want to scaremonger, I think ectopics are quite rare still and I think you would usually have known by now or had more symptoms. My body is a bit strange when it comes to pregnancy. It seems to hang on to pregnancies even if they aren't going to work out.

Thanks my lovely. I am going away for a few days now so if I am still worried when I get back I'll speak to GP. i have noidea if the area is my tube area or just where baby has implanted in the womb hence the niggles are a good sign. So hard to tell from the Outside and especially as everything is so far back. I got my BFP well after my period was due and the Digi has gradually progressed from 2-3 weeks to 3+ weeks at the right times so that makes me feel good xx
