pills? what pills? paracetamols are safe.. i take them all the time.. i get tummy ache a lot..feeling sick too...but i dunno if that would help.. sometimes fizzy drinks settle the tummy?

Have you discussed with your GP or Consultant if the medication you take for your IBS is a risk during pregnancy?

I have to take lots of different meds for my Crohns... My midwife and GP all said they were dangerous, but my consultant gave me a hand out for pregnant women with Crohns and some internet addresses, and it turns out that they are all fine to take...just studies aren't generally done on pregnant women...

I was told the risk of not taking them is much greater than taking them, and that the placenta is highly effective of screening out much of the meds. With bowel conditions, if the bowel becomes too inflamed or obstructs the consequences are far worse than the minute risk of toxins from the meds.

I would say give yourself one or two more days... If you are still ill, then go to your GP to see which meds are safe for you to take, then take them.. Also you can look up on the internet for information concerning the meds you have. you might find some really useful information from other ladies who have been pregnant and taken them.

I know you can't take normal stuff, like immodium.. (that would have been really, really useful over the last week), and Diclofenac is another med you definately can't take, that eases stomach cramps... but as for other IBS meds I don't know..

i asked at the beinging od pregnancy about the buscapan i take , and it literally says in the manual lol that if benefits outway the risks take it , like you mention , its mainly cos trials are not done on preggy women

god i just wanna do something with my mum , first time she's ever stayed down here and i cant do f all !

I've got buscapan for stomach cramps... I only have to take my Pentasa and pausadal (anti sickness) at the moment. Luckily, mines an autoimmune disease and when your pregnant your immune system decreases so I actually am better pregnant than not.... :rotfl: The irony..

ive got cyclizine , anti sickness pills

i was told for most peeps ibs settles in pregnancy too , and i thought it had , but its been hard to tell in the last week if ive got ibs tummy ache or pregnancy tummy ache !

Yeah my IBS has settled loads and has been fine apart from the odd day.

I had a bug last week gem where I had stomach cramps and couldn't hold anything down at all, maybe its that?

Poor thing  Your mum will totally understand - she just wants to be with you! Do you take the buscopan as required ? Then maybe one would do no harm - its not like you will have to take it constantly, or as lisa said maybe try some paracetamol first - especially as if it is just normal stretching pain it will help with that.

Gem,

I had an odd weekend too with my stomach.

On Sunday, we went for a drive to Milton Keynes and went shopping. Whilst there I had a chicken Quiznos (just a small one) and a small tub of 97% fat free frozen yogurt - that's all I'd eaten all day. About 30 mins after, we were in Next and I literally had to run to the nearest loo and had bad diarrhea. Yesterday, I was unable to go at all and had a bit of a painful stomach almost all day. I didn't eat too much and went to bed feeling REALLY bloated and horrible.

This morning I got up and was desperate for the loo and went immediately and I think I feel better now. (I lost 2lb by going BTW- that's how backed up I was). I did wonder if I had a small bug and actually said that to Matt yesterday.

Perhaps you just really need the loo or you have a small bug?
