hi there

I am new to this and am ttc and just wondered if anyone else has had the following

C12 & 13 Flashing smiley on OPK
C14 Static smiley on OPK
CD28, 29 & 30 Solid Positive OPK on cheapies
CD30 eve - very faint PT but could be an evap
CD31 MORNING - Again, very faint PT but could be an evap.
CD31 1 hour after doing PT, wiped with spotting!!!! not enough to say its AF but small pink when wiping.

Anyone else experienced this? Its driving me mad!!!

Hi hun,

To me there seems to be 2 possibilities.

1. you are in deed pregnant, opks can pick up the pregnancy hormones. Which is why you would have got those positive opks towards the end of your cycle. As a general rule they say that its often relatively normal to have a spotting type bleed with brown blood around the time your period would have been due. As long as that spotting doesn't turn red and/or accompanied by cramps, your ok! If the egg implanted later into the cycle it would result in faint positive tests.

2. You're having a chemical pregnancy. This is where the egg is fertilised but fails to implant properly. This would lead to faint positive tests, but then period would show up at the normal time or possible a few days late.

So for the last theory, it's not nice to think about and wholy heartedly hope that's not the case.

Your only option is to wait and see. If after a few days the spotting hasn't developed into anything more, then test again. Hcg take 24 - 72 hours to double. So waiting a couple of days should result in a dark test line.

Best of luck to you xxx

Thank you so much for your reply.. I was thinking that too but you know when you just need someone to say it too!!

Im trying for my 2nd baby, I have a 3 year old but completely forgotten what it was like TTC! This is my first month trying from coil removal mid July, so its all been the first month!

Thank you again xxx

Ah, if it's your first month since stopping contraceptive that could also be playing its part.

After finishing contraceptive our bodies can take a while to adjust. Occasionally, our bodies can gear up to ovulate, you'll have the normal ov pains, positive opks, and good cm... But then for some unknown reason the egg will fail to release. This can happen when finishing contraception. What will happen is the body will either try again a few days/week later or it won't ovulate at all.

So it could be that your body tried to ovulate and failed originally and so tried again later, hence the late opks.

Either way, its still a waiting game to see what happens. Good luck xxx

That would make sense.

I’ll keep you updated

Just to update the thread

I had small spotting when wiped on CD31 & 32

Nothing now on CD33

Also negative pregnancy test and ovulation test on Wilco’s own cheap strips!!

I stopped pill in March and only had 2 bleeds since.

Now cycle 3 cd 56 started spotting and now bleeding on and off but nowhere near as heavy as AF.
So confused!
Seems too heavy to be implantation.
At this point I'd rather have a heavy painful period just so I know that's what it is!
