TTC no 2 for almost 1yr - aged 39

Having had our son in 2014 (when I was 37 - well 38 as he was born the day after by birthday).. I am now 39, 40 in March. We are TTC no 2.. it's taken almost a year - as we came off the pill at Christmas last year, and started charting/using OPKs etc from January...

So when would you make an appointment with a GP ?

I've asked this before but cannot find the previous post...

I'd probably go now mrs, the worst the Doctor can say is it's too early to do anything. If so, they'll tell you when best to come back xx

I agree, go now. I don't know if this is true but I'm sure I heard somewhere each area is different for referral times. They've told me 1 year but I know someone else who lives somewhere different was told 2. Good luck anyway x

I think it's best to go now, so that they have on your medical record that you are TTC actively and then can give a date like the girls have said.

Someone could easily say to the Drs oh we have been trying a year, when its been a couple months - so I have a feeling that they would want it "documented" to determine when to send for investigations - even though when I went to my GP to announce my pregnancy they werent interested!

Feels strange to go to the GP to just talk to them, rather than "this hurts" or "that hurts"... I am merely going to say "hello, I'm trying to have a baby and nothing is happening".... lol

In my area if you are over 35 they will do tests after 6 months. They won't do any treatment if you have a living child though but at least you will know if there is a problem. Good luck

Hi. I'm in exact same position- we went to doc after a year and have now been referred to fertility clinic for tests/support- I'm 30 so age isn't always important. How long did it take last time? Wishing u lots of luck x
