I can't offer much advice as I'm in my early 20's but my mum, who was 34 having me and 36-37 having my younger brother was told because of her age, high blood pressure etc.... that having kids would be a massive push she also had 6-8 miscarriages from a young age and then met my father had a few with him too and finally conceived me.
While pregnant with me she had to go in to hospital all the time to have check ups and clearly couldn't give birth naturally and I was delivered by caesarean, my brother on the other hand - they weren't trying to conceive him and when she told her DR he blatantly told her to have an abortion as another child WOULD kill her, she had a terrible pregnancy and a horrible caesarean birth luckily both my brother and she lived - but she has suffered like hell with her health since, she now has hernia, ulcer, angina, high blood pressure not that she regrets having us but I think you need to take into an account your age, any illnesses you have prior to having a baby and the possible illnesses you'll have after.
With the medical advances these days if being pregnant, giving birth etc is too much for your body to handle there are other options, but I know you probably want YOUR own child which is fair enough, if so seek medical advice from someone who is expertise in this topic.
