Hi ladies,
I've just had a call from my midwife who I saw two weeks ago. When I had my 25 week appointment, she asked about any pains and I said I had had it a few times, but figured out how to stop it. She was very intrigued and asked how. I told her and she said she'd pass it on to her other mums. She's just called to say that every single one of the other mums has got back to her to say it works, so I thought I would share it here.
I did mention it on a thread here a few weeks back as well, but given this feedback, thought I would give it its own thread.
So...worst times for round ligament pain for me have been when moving from side to side in bed and when coughing or sneezing.
Bed method is this.
When moving from left to right or right to left, I lift my head and shoulders as if I'm doing a mini sit up as I turn myself over. This has prevented the pain every single time I've done it. So, do a sit-up of sorts as you move.
Cough/sneeze method
Simply bend forward as you cough or sneeze. Much like the bed mini sit-up, just bending forward has worked for me every time I have needed to sneeze or cough. Bonus is, it also seems to stop any leakage down below, lol.
Brucey bonus...I've also noticed that I can prevent calf cramps in bed as well. My calves only want to cramp when I stretch my legs, but if I just point my toes up towards my head, it will stop a cramp starting and even stop a cramp as it comes. If I'm sleepy and stretch without thinking to flex my ankles up to point my toes at my head, I get cramp but can immediately stop it just by doing the ankle flex.
I really hope these little tips can help some of you lovely ladies as it has really worked for me.
Happy bumpage to you all xxx
