Hi Girls,

Harley has a flat head :( its looking like its getting worse so need to get some thing quick to try and mend it.

kina recomended this http://www.thebabycatalogue.com/prodinf ... mber=K0243
looks good but now Harleys wriggling alot and trying to roll i think he wil just move if it.
i seen in one of petchys old posts that petchy recomends this http://www.goigoibabypillows.co.uk/.
i do like the look of this one, does any one no any uk sites that might sell them?

or has any one got any more tips? for the next few nights till i get a pillow should i use a normal pillow from my bed to take the presure from his head?
does any one have any more advice for me. i cant believe how much its upsetting me. i no its very comman i just feel sorry for my lil man.

i got one of those go go pillows, didnt do anything apart from wake coby up all the time, his houlders kept sliping off the pillows and it made his neck and head high which woke him up.

Coby had a very flat head to one side, but since he has started sitting up it is coreecting itself and you can hardly notice it now.

i wouldnt worry to much babes

xxx

harleys is the back of his head, im getting obsessed now if he lays down on his back for 2mins i get paraniod that im making it worse. i seen a little boy a few weeks ago he was about Diors age it looked very noticable. where did you get your pilow from layla? if i was to get that one or the other which one would you say? he likes laying on his play mat would the go go pillow be good for that?? i do imagin it would give them a sore back with it being arched thou :?

Dionne i know just how you feel, i was in tears over Jacks flat spot
his was right on the back as well.
Now he is moving about and rolling over in cot you it has nearly righted its self
I mentioned it to my HV and she suggested laying him the otherway in his cot so he turned towrds the landing light.

Mention how worried you are next time you go to clinic

See Jo has reitterated what I told you, Rebecca had it, but now she is hardly ever lying down it isn't as bad, it is rectifying itself.

Trust me, I have done everything, pillows, appt with HV, appt wi Dr etc, and they all told me by the time she is 2 it will have fully disappeared. Its coz their skulls are so soft and when the brain grows the skull does (that what the Dr told me). And he also said no way would he fork out nearly 2 grand on a helmet, as the companies that market these know parents are concerned and would be willing to pay that for one-and the companies know that by the time the kids are 2 the problem in most cases will have rectified itself!

I took the word of the Dr, I didnt want to, but i am glad i did, saved myself the money, and the distress of putting her in one of those restrictive horrendous masks, and her head is so much better now!

FHS is a cosmetic problem unless like kina's Ella she has torticillous (sp) then that's medical. BTW Kina, Ella doesn't have a fh! I seen her in the pics, she looks perfect!

Dionee try the repositioning techniques I told u about!

i was told the same with kieron just to leave it and it would right its self and sure enough it did try not to worry

Thanks hon  She's a lot better since her physio started, the difference in her face shape is so dramatic, even compared to pics taken at the beginning of June.

Dionne, the tip to put his cot opposite the window so he naturally turns towards the light is a good one. Plus it's not just lying on his back on the floor that makes it worse - car seats and buggies don't help either. I used to roll up a small towel or my pouch sling and put it to the side of Ella's head to stop her from lying on the worst bit.

At the worst time we were considering a helmet for Ella, we even took her up to Cardiff to get her scanned to see how bad her flatness was. In the end we noticed such a different from the physio and keeping her off that side of her head we realised she didn't need one, I'm glad that we did that.

Although might not round 100% when he's off his back so much in a few weeks time it will get a lot better.

My neices head was flat at the back from sleeping on her back, shes now 1 year old and he head is fine.

Hi hun. Abi had a really bad flat spot, hers was the whole side of her head, when she went for her 9 week check i mentioned it to the dr, i was really uspet about it, he said it's normal and it would correct itself, since she's been sitting up it's almost gone, i was also told to lie her on her belly whenever you're with them as this will obviously take the pressure off the back of the head x
