Hey ladies,

I have a dumb question so please bear with me hahaha

I had my little girl 8.5 months ago. With my first baby, who was fully formula fed, my period came back at about 6 months postpartum, however with this baby we breastfed until 8 months old which I understand can delay periods returning too and I've not had one yet.

We have started thinking about baby#3 and would like to start ttc soonish however there are no real signs of a period happening any time soon. So in the event it doesn't show up in, say the next 6 months for example, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of how I would even go about tracking cycles/ovulation etc without a clear starting day for cycle 1. I know you can get pregnant without your period having returned but I'd love to hear any suggestions xx

Welcome back Laura! I hope you are well!
My AF only came back after I started slowly stopping bfing. I think I had it 9 months pp.
Bf really plays a big part so I don't know whether you are ready to start quitting or not?x

Hey :) We are all good here, thank you! nice to see a familiar face too and hope you are all well?

Sorry I think my wording was strange but she's 8.5 months and we stopped just after the 8 month mark there so its been about a week or so since she actually directly fed but I have been having to express bits here and there for comfort and I had to actually pump to get rid of a block ! nightmare!! We had a nightmare bfing so it was a miracle we even made it 8 months hahaha

How long after you stopped breastfeeding did you get yours?xx

Wow you hung in there for 8 months!
All is well here too, I started to stop breastfeeding at around 8 months or so, but had to do it gradually, and then entirely stopped at 9 months. She didn't want formula, only the boob, it was so frustrating because I had to start working and didn't want to start pumping all over again. She did start drinking formula after finding one she did like. Very picky little lady!
I had my first AF 4 weeks or so after I started diminishing the breastfeeding.
I hope you get pregnant quickly this time around!x

Yeah, looking back I'm not sure how as I did as she has a shallow latch, lip tie, and high palate. The pain was unreal and I genuinely don't think I could do it again. Due to her shallow latch I had supply issues too with rubbish milk transfer and tbh shes been nicknamed the piranha. I'm not sure if hanging on so long was brave or stupid hahaha

That's reassuring to know, I've been feeling some cramps and stuff lately that keep making me feel like AF is coming soon but just nothing yet. We did gradually reduce, not just cold turkey so maybe itll be soon x
