Hi,
I'm going to be moving my 9 year old from his bedroom into the smaller bedroom so his little brothers can share the bigger room. I don't know what to do with his toys, some were too expensive to give away but wouldn't fetch much on ebay, some are rubbish so wouldn't even be welcome at a charity shop, but don't want them ending up in landfill either! Suppose my problem is I want them all sorted out in as little time as possible, there's a little room left in the attic so i can keep books, wooden toys etc.
Any tips on how to prepare for a major clear out? I'm so unorganised I need a kick up the backside!

I do it with 3 boxes, one for stuff to sell, on here/ ebay etc, one for the charity shop, one for the bin.

How about giving some to a local kids club or toddler group?

You hide the expensive ones for a few months then wrap them up and reproduce them as presents to the younger ones.. . :shhh:

I have had to do this recently with the introduction of new baby and then new toys at christmas etc. I sorted out the big, expensive or good quality stuff and sold it on ebay/local paper. Stuff I think we can reuse in a years time with Eden has been stored either in the loft or next door at MIL's house (very convenient! :shhh: ) and then anything else that was still half decent but unlikely to sell, we took to Tylers nursery for their use. I have done this several times and they are always so grateful for the contribution. I would rather do this than the charity shop tbh as I know they will be looked after and used regularly, and I know they rely heavily on hand-outs for stuff like this so are always very appreciative of it. In the past we have also donated some to the local doctors surgery, library, hospital, childrens centre etc. Makes me feel like Im doing something useful too :D

What about putting them on freecycle?

This is what I was going to suggest - Freecycle.
I've put loads of LO's toys and outgrown clothes etc on there, someone ALWAYS wants it if it's for free.
