Hi all,

So I'm walking to my office this morning, though London City, and it's really windy. I felt grit/dirt keep blowing all over me, and when I got to work and checked the mirror I had all little black bits stuck to my face/lips! I used a makeup wipe to wipe them off and then used my concealer.

However, now I'm panicking. My midwife told me to steer clear of soil/dirt without gloves on, and not to touch my face if I'd been gardening etc, because of the risk of toxoplasmosis. Should I now be worried about getting these bits on my face? As I was walking through the City, rather than a garden where cats might have pooed...do you think there is less risk? (I was walking through streets where there are just buildings and not many green areas).

Also, do you think my concealer is ok to keep using? I'm worried that I've somehow contaminated it now!

Yes, I'm fully aware of how paranoid I sound. Blame the crazy hormones!!

You should be fine hun. The reason why gardening is a risk is because you cant always tell where cats have been xx

I really wouldn't worry about that hun.

I have a cat and still clean the litter box and I have been fine. The risk is really very small

Thanks for your quick replies girlies. The more I think about it, the more likely that it was grit/dust from the roads than anything else. And you don't often see cats in the city so I think I'm ok....

Man these hormones drive you crazy!

I spent most of my pregnancy with Sam getting covered in London grime! I'm sure you'll be fine x

right hun i can tell you know as i had to study this a bit at college, toxoplasmosis can be passed on if you directly handle cat faeces if that cat is infected with the virus.

pregnant women are told to refrain from handling things like garden soil and even their own cat litter as a caution because you may not know if you cat has it and espically someone elses.

if you do have a cat and it uses a litter tray as caution get someone else to handle it but if you cant then wear gloves and thoroughly was your hands after handling anything like that.

hope this helps
