Total foul mood after Consultant appointment...

Well first of all they were running half an hour late, we finally got into the room and they send in a freaking locum, not the actual consultant that was on my letter...

He had a feel of baby and listened to the heartbeat and told me I couldn;t have baby at that hospital as my BMI was 1 point over, I already knew that and had made the choice to go to the other hospital.

When I aske what the point of this appointment was he said to tell me I couldn;t have it at Bournemouth!!!!!!!!!

I asked who I would be going over my birthing plan with as I was expecting to do that today and that I wanted a water birth to help with the pain, he went toddling off came back and basically said that as my BMI is 1 point over the recommended level I wouldn;t be able to have a waterbirth!!!! WTF! he went to find out about vit D as well even though I have kept my levels up by having Spatone everyday which I told him, oh guess what I don;t have to take extra Vit D!!!!!! well done bright spark...

I have had no problems throughout my pregnancy at all, my bloods have been fine, my blood pressure has been fine ( I can feel it rising though!!)

I don't want masses of drugs when giving birth unless absolutely neccessary and but at the same time I am starting to panic about how much it will hurt, i'm not stupid I know it hurts but I was so hoping to use some more natural methods of pain relief.

I am really pissed off the appointment today was just a load of crap and I don't see the point to it...

Also if I am not giving birth in Bournemouth why the hell are all my appointments there, by the time I get to give birth at poole noone will know the F I am!!

Think I may need to speak to my midwife about it all, i'm getting quite stressed!!!!!!

She's the best one to talk to hun cos she's the one who has to sort it out if you get stressed. Hope you get some decent answers xxxxxxxx

Defo speak to your midwife hun, if you request it she can arrange another appointment for you with a different doctor that would be able to answer all your questions.

my bmi is 30 they only worked it out when i was four months preg and was carrying extra just found out im preg weight! Im only a 14 normally but im classed at obese! I think its terrible x

Oh how awful!, sorry to hear you had a crappy appointment!..My BMI is 29 and that was from when i was around 7 weeks pregnant, which apparently makes me overweight!, but i was chubby before i got pregnant!

I would say talk to your midwife about it, and tell her how unhappy that appointment made you. The midwife i had today isn't my proper midwife since my other midwife has buggered off on holiday until my next appointment!

Hope they can give you the answers you really want!

sorry you had a crappy appt and even worse a locum, i would get onto ur mw or maternity dept at poole hosp and talk to them esp if ur supposed to be going there for the birth!!
