To watch or not to watch Dawn get a baby??

I think you're watching it now aren't you Sarah?
I watched it again with my OH this time and I didn't feel so bad. These ladies had the sort of birth I want (well the pool and the just gas and air) and they seemed just fine afterwards!!!

I think now i understand it a lot more too - seeing the venthose (sp?) and the forceps was reasuring though obviously i'd still rather now have them used.

Hope you find it ok Sarah :) xx

I loved it it was brilliant
i cried buckets at the 2nd birth because you got to see more of the birth and the mother's reaction when her litle girl was put in her arms.
the bit in the video where the vagina is cut i actually laughed becaues of Dawns reaction. that was amusing, didnt concentreate on the cutting to much.

still worreid about the pain But oh i CANT WAIT for my liitle Boy to arrive    IM GOING TO BE A MAMMY :cheer: :cheer:

me and hubby watched it lastnight and apart from him nearly being sick at the placenta i think its really helped him alot to prepare what is going to happen,
he did say if i dont want anymore kids after this one he will understand lol
manda xx

I am not going to watch it. I am quite calm about child birth, can't see the need in scaring myself silly. If it is bad when I get there, I will cope. No point worrying for 9 months before hand.

same here, id rather not know. If you forget the pain afterwards anyway, why worry about it beforehand. Im convincing myself it wont be that bad and yes, maybe i'll get a massive shock! But i'd rather have a rude awakening for a few hours then forget it, than be terrified for the next 5 weeks.

I don't think the births shown were at all bad. The ladies shown got by with just the warm water and gas and air for pain relief. They could have always have asked for drugs if they'd wanted them. I think they both escaped without stiches too. I'd be very happy if my labour happened like that :D

I had a midwife app last frid, and she told me not to watch it, cos it would freak me out. Just clicked to watch it online, and after the 30 sec preview of whats going to be on the show i've decided i cant watch it, at least not without hubby. God the thought of labour TERRIFIES me.

Just to say about the preview - the screeming woman leaning over the edge of a pool is Dawn pretending to give birth :rotfl: The whole thing is a lot more reassuring than the introduction makes out.

I watched this and it scared the b'jesus out of me.

I am crapping myself about giving birth even though i've done it once before - but that was 12 years ago and I was 18 and to be honest really naive I didn't think about the birth.

Midwives and doctors keep telling me that my birth should be really quick as i gave birth to DS in 1hr 43 mins last time but who knows

He was pretty quick

My waters broke at 1.00am on the Tuesday morning then absolutely nothing happened til theTuesay evening and I think (if I can remember that far back) about 10.00pm my contractions started and he was born at 1.23am on the Wednesday morning.

you lucky thing! I had over 12 hours of contractions before I was fully dilated, then I had to have my waters broken by the midwife :D
