Timing rules?

What are the rules you are using regarding time with cooling wxprwssws milk in the fridge, freezing and heating with your breast milk. What I've doing on websites and in my pump leaflet are different so what rules are to using for example breast milk kept at room temperature... One dates it will last 6 hours one say 10.... Do you have to discard after an hour once baby has started drinking from bottle like formula ??? Once you've heated it does it only have an hour?

I go by the rule of 6 - 6 hours at room temperature, 6 days in back of fridge, 6 months in freezer.

You are meant to discard partially drunk bottles after 1 hour, but I wouldn't worry about timing to the minute if your baby likes to have small frequent feeds (we've given a bottle that'd been out longer than an hour) so long as you don't leave it hanging around too long.

I exclusive express, and I would leave fresh expressed for 6 hours at room temp, (handy at night cos I just put it straight into feeding bottle and don't have to faf with taking the chill of it in the night) 6 days in fridge and never get round to freezing. Once out fridge you have 4 hours at room temp and I always throw away an hour after starting feed x x

Might sound stupid but why do we throw away after an hour I understand I milk has been heated up then I suppose it can funny as it cools but of breast milk can stay fresh for 6 hours why do we need to discard after an hour of baby having a bit? Might sound stupid but does anyone know?

It's because baby has drunk from the bottle and could have introduced bacteria to the milk.
