Hi all.

I've finally been given a space at my local Baby Massage class and I'm after a little advice from Mummy's that have taken these classes.

My lb is coming up to 14 weeks old and is slowly getting into a sort of routine. The class starts at 10am for an hour and over the past couple weeks or so this is where he will either be napping or having a bottle. He gets really cranky if he doesn't get either as I know the cues for both. I'm just worried that it'll be a complete waste of time going as he will play up or whether any other mums have tried to re-jig things so baby will not need a feed or a nap. If the need arises to feed or try and nap is this ok? I'm guessing all babies are on different schedules I just don't want to be disruptive. Ive been so looking forward to going but I'm really nervous and don't really know what to expect.

Any help or tips would be much appreciated.....thanks in advance ladies.

My lo has fed and napped through a few classes! It's good to go to as much for your sake as lo. Time to talk to other mums and get out for a while. No one really bothers at all if lo doesn't participate :) she sleeps in her pram, on the mat, has her bottle.. I think I've managed to actually massage with her twice lol x

When I went there was always at least one baby feeding or napping each week. The good thing with these classes is they're designed for mums and young babies, so they're pretty laid back about it all.

I really wouldn't recommend staying in to suit your LO's routine. It's a slippery sloap to being forever housebound. Better to get LO used to napping in a variety of situations and learning to cope with the odd deviation from routine.

When my lo was little he napped and fed through a variety of classes I took him to baby massage included.

I enjoyed baby massage but wished I done it when he was younger as he was 4.5mths and so wriggly! Each week we concentrated on a particular area of the body. I can't say I ever did much massage at home apart from using some of the strokes when putting his eczema cream on!

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, nice to have some one on one time with baby without any distractions of home around.

xx

Lots of feeding and sleeping babies at our classes too.

Olly did his class at 6 weeks and most of the time he would cry because he was tired or wanted a bottle.
Usually half of the class was doing something other than massage !
I liked it because it was social for us and I met some lovely people who I still meet up with now. And they also did a class based on colic/wind and showed us the best technique for getting the windy pops out.
Was a life saver a few weeks later when little one had bad trapped wind

xx
