I've been breastfeeding for 6 weeks now with no problems, but now we have thrush and it's agony :( I'm keeping my nipples clean and dry, washing my hands, changing the breastpads often and using daktarin gel in my son's mouth and the cream on my nipples, but it doesn't seem to be going away.

One of my nipples has a massive bleeding crack in it (which I'm using Lansinoh on)and is far too sore to feed him from, so I'm just feeding from one side (which is a lot less sore and luckily hasn't cracked yet) to give it a break and expressing and throwing away what I can from the sore one to keep my supply up.

Will this work for a few days or am I going to really mess my milk supply up? I did feed from both for as long as possible and just gritted my teeth through the pain but I can't do it any more and need to give the one boob a break until it's healed a bit.

And does anyone have any tips for either getting rid of thrush or just making the pain more bearable? Or even just some encouragement because it's really getting me down feeling like I can't feed him properly but I'm determined that he won't have a bottle (I don't have anything against bottle feeding, it was just a personal goal that I'd get him to 6 months without a bottle).

I wasn't a b/feeder but wanted to offer these

I used to suffer from recurrent thrush and found a probiotic supplement helped. I still take it every day to help the balance of bacteria in the gut.

Try Acidoluphus capsules from Holland and Barrett.

Hope it gets better soon, thrush is horrid :(

I never suffered from thrush, so I wouldn't know how to deal with it.

I'm sorry to hear you are suffering, hope you feel better soon xxxx

Would expressing milk, help clear the thrush up, until it's gone?
