Cali or Lilly for a girl

Alec or Kai for a boy

Lily is lovely, Cali is nice enough but is it likely to be short for anything? I think people will assume it's short for something.
Alec is a nice traditional name, Kai however is one I've heard all too often as a teacher and I've been completely put off it.

I like Cali (my dog has the name) but thought it was the god of death and destruction? I like lily too - not keen on Kai but that's because it makes me think of koi carp lol (random I know)

Cali means beautiful.
