Hi ladies,

Just looking for a bit of information as to if anyone has experienced similar, this is my first pregnancy so not sure what’s normal or not.

I had been having some pelvic pain, so was referred for an early scan turns out I’m roughly around 5 weeks and not actually 7 weeks 3 days. As the date of my last period works out I’d be 7 weeks, they have said they are not overly concerned due to my periods being not regular so date of conception could have been whenever. But if they were regular they’d be concerned, is this normal? Is it common for this too happen?

It sounds weird but I kind of feel a little disappointed, because I was really hoping too see a little baby on the screen but didn’t see anything apart from the sac! Xx

From my experience with previous pregnancies, they can often change the dates. They may change it again when you have your next scan.

I think if you have irregular periods then just see what happens. Have they offered you a follow up scan? Did you track ovulation or anything?

We are having a follow up scan next Thursday, I’m just a little bit worried although I’m not sure if I need to be. I think they did say they where okay that I was only 5 weeks as the irregular periods would explain it x

hey, I had the same thing happen to me. Was suppose be almost 7 weeks and embryo was only measuring roughly 5 weeks. I did have pretty regular periods, and began to worry that the pregnancy wouldn't continue. The sonographer told me not to worry as dating at such an early stage is really difficult, which is why they don't officially date a pregnancy until the 12 week scan. My at my next scan everything was as it should be and now that little embryo is 9 weeks old today.

I have everything crossed for a good outcome for you xx

Oh amazing! That feels me with some hope! Just panicking as I haven’t been pregnant before and I don’t know if this is all normal xx thank you

If you got your bfp on 15th July it looks like because of your irregular periods that your where you should be.

This happened to me with my 2nd pregnancy. I had long cycles of around 35 days so when i got my bfp from my lmp i would have been around 7 weeks. A scan 2 weeks later due to bleeding they put me back to 5 weeks which made sense as my first positive test was so faint. We wasnt asked to go back for 3 weeks and there was our 8 week nearly 9 week baby. She is now 15 months old x
