can you hear your own heartbeat through the doppler, it is just that i heard my babys fast heart beat and then i moved it along just a little to the side and heard what seemed like another that was slower but a little fast still, i am sorry if this sounds silly

Yes you can hear your own heartbeat through the doppler, my nan has one to listen to hers, something to do with her pulse and all that not sure on what exactly

Nothing to worry about really, but you never know you might have another lil tike in there somewhere i am pretty sure its just your pulse around your body but we will see when you get back from you scan, you might come back with an extra suprise

i got one a few weeks ago but still cant find a heartbeat with it..it says it works my 5 months so maybe i have to wait a little longer, or any hints on using them better? im not worried cause baby kicks alot

do you use gel with it?? it also helps if you start using it near to your hmm pubes, pardon my wording

I got mine when i was 8 weeks and have used it religiously since (well only if im a little worried), if you use it around your pubic region as littlelady said you should find a heartbeat there especially as your nearly 20 weeks, if not your midwife should find it for you at your next appointment!!

well someones gotta be, cant spend your life hiding away, thats my motto. I have used mine bout 7 times today, i get really worried really easily.. Like if my trousers are a little tight under my bump i wory that i am squashing my baby

i tend to wear maternity trousers now coz i couldny=t stop worrying so i am ok now, and i have my doppler too which helps

Hiya littlelady,

The one thing I found as you get further into pregnancy is you pick up a really strong pulse from the placenta. As it grows & gets stronger it gets even more noticeable. Just time your pulse in your wrist or put your hand on your heart, I expect you will find its the same beat!!

We were caught out with this & got quite worried as we thought there was something wrong - took us ages to work out!!

You can pick up your pulse.

I remember when i got mine... i thought i'd found my babies heart beat but then when i moved the doppler to the other side of my bump i heard it again... i swore i was having twins... the MW explained that i'd been listening to my own pulse and cooing over it...
