Hi girls,

If you are eatting or have bad sickness do not read on because it will make you worse.......

I went to the toilet about an hour ago and IT, "number 2" got stuck!!! I had to sit there sweating for about 1/2 hour and it was sooooooooo uncomfortable. It sounds funny now but it has really frightened me to go again!

Is this becasue of the pregnancy??? I have never had this before!! (I will not tell you what I had to do to get it out but it involved alot of tissue paper and alot of humiliation!!). I thought I was going to be there for the rest of my pregnancy! I was like trying to give birth!

Anyone else had this? Sorry to be so graphic!

unfortunately, this seems to be a symptom of pregnancy! i'm usually the most regular girl in the world, like more than 2-3 times a day with no trouble at all. Lately, going is such a "struggle" and doesn't amount to much if you know what i mean!!!! (ewwe, sorry reading that back is not pleasant!) i feel like all the extra pounds i've gained but can't seem to see are blocked up bowel!!

Oh dear
I haven't had it as bad as that but I have noticed that things are moving a bit slower than normal.
I'm sure i read somewhere that it's normal - something to do with your body concentrating on the pregnancy instead.

Constipation is normal, especially in first tri. Everything starts to squish up for baby and therefore makes less space for your bowels to do their thing.

Best thing is to ensure you are drinking water, eating fibre (weetabix for breakfasrt every day for example, wholemeal bread etc) and if need be taking something like Fibogel or Lactulose to help things along and soften it up.

Also if need be don't sit on the loo and wait in pain. Get up and move around a bit as it can help get things going again. Feet on a small box also so your knees are up can help position wise.

Hiya,

Firstly dont apologise for being "graphic" i am unfortunately the queen of toilet talk as i have had 15 years of crohns disease.. I have no choice but to grow up discussing my bowel movements to doctors and nurses. One thing ive learnt is that there is no point in being shy cos quite frankly everyone poos!

Anyway, back to the topic, i have noticed that things have slowed down for me and trust me.. i was very regular. Unfortnately i cant increase my fibre intake as it may make me flare but if you have a healthy bowel this is probably your best option.

Good luck and hope you get some relief soon,

Claire x

Thanks for your replies, girls....I did not know what kind of response I was going to get :?

Sluggish bowel movement is normal then? Is there any part of a woman's body NOT affected by pregnancy?? :rotfl: :rotfl: Would love to see my man go through these symptoms - I would not hear the end of it (and all probably in graphic detail!!)

Thanks for the advice, Sherlock. Yes, I will increase my water intake to see if that works. If I take a safe herbal remedy to soften my poos, it won't suddenly give me diarrohea will it? I think more fruit and morning bran is the answer. Even though bran is boring, at least it might help things along (much better than struggling like that again).

Nori: We have a family friend with Crohns and she really suffered during her pregnancy with bowel flare ups. I hope you are coping okay and taking care of yourself xxxxxx

I've suffered with piles throughout this pregnancy so far and sometimes going for a poo realy IS like childbirth! (She says, having never given birth  )

But I completely understand the sitting and waiting for the kids to be dropped off by the pool!

I eat wheatabix for breakfast now and has helped no end! Plus, my craving was milk and comes back in waves so it's nice to get a "fix" first thing in the morning too! :D xx

lol ironicly that's one of the reasons i suspected i was pregnant it's a sign of pregnancy so it's perfectly normal. I have been very constipated so far i can't wait for it to ease lol

This is one symptom which totally passed me by!! I have IBS which i think has actually helped, i do get a little slow sometimes, but it flips so i know it'll last a few days maximum.

A nice big glass of prune juice cured me. :D

I was a bit blocked up in the beginning for a couple of days, drank the prune juice, waited at home for the day (didn't dare leave the house :rotfl: ) and everything flushed out. It was such a relief. I've had absolutely no problems since. :D

i remember first tri consitpation !!!!

nightmare, had an arse like a marmite pot :rotfl:

Oooo thank you thank you thank you for this post

I thought it was just meeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Phew!

:rotfl:

Orange juice!! LOL Lots and lots of orange juice!! :D

Thanks Julia.. im doing ok at the moment. pregnancy can actually help the crohns symptoms but ive heard a lot of people flare afterwards.. something to look forward to!! lol

Folic acid can cause this the doc told me and it sure did in my first pregnancy!!! It gets easier believe me just try and eat come things like the other girls suggested. Hope you get over it soon but im sure its normal!

Thanks Sammy,

It makes me nevous now when I feel the urge to go!! Holding it in is definately not going to help...

You are right - just try the foods the other girls suggested! So I am now off to make myself a fresh fruit salad (love fruit anyway).
