Had my 34 weeks appointment today and my midwife said that sometimes having your third child can be awkward?! any of you ladies who have had three experienced this?? I was hoping it was going to be easier not harder! :wall2:

she must be generalising surely... why do they say these things :(

A midwife at the gym said the same thing to me lol, although I've had conflicting stories off a few people with them having their babies within mins of getting to the hospital, think you just have to go with the fact that each pregnancy is different and hope for the best, that's what I'll be doing anyway lol x

Why do they say these things!! Just another thing to play on peoples minds as if we haven't got enough! I hope it isn't true anyway as this is also my third and hoping for another homebirth. I'll ask my midwife x

my first labour/birth was hard work so i think thats just nonsence lol, my third was elective section so meh who knows? lol

My first two were pretty easy really. Second was was born within 45 mins of arriving at the hospital. Hoping it will be that good this time round, Wish she hadn't said that as I'm thinking al sorts now. lol.

wow lucky you ive never had an easy time lol.
i doubt thats true cos if it was people like me qouldnt have long hard labours with the others lol

My 3rd one was fine. Luckily was in the hospital anyway visiting a relative and went from nothing to holding my little one in 25 mins haha. My others were much longer and more painful but the other 2 were back to back and was more uptight.

Omg that is brilliant ! hope my third is like that !

I'm one of three. For my mum the first was the hardest labour by far, the second one the easiest. The third labour was between the two but my mum was in her late 30's and had other health complications. Mothers of a third baby are more likely to be a bit older which might make a difference but I've known several people have easy 3rd labours.

thanks that is really helpful! I've no other health complications and I'm 31 so time is still on my side! Just. Guess I'm just going to have to wait and see.. wish the midwife hadn't said that. grr.

I had the same said to me about no 3 but she was fine and not at all difficult , when you go back with a fourth pregnancy they really seem to step it up going on and on about haemorrhaging during the birth , I think secretly they want put us off having to many , but that's my opinion. I just keep stating that this is my last and that seem to be backing off alittle more this time around. xx

What utter tosh!!! sometimes MW really talk out of their arses!!! lol :wall2:
why on earth would you say something like that? isnt the whole point of being a midwife is to reassure your ladies?!

My 3rd was sooooo straight forward. I got bored and wished I'd bought a magazine with me! I actually fell asleep :nap: between contractions (and during at one point!) because it was just so ... dull!! I know its a weird thing to say but it was - Harry came out when he was ready and that was it - barely hurt to be honest.

Now no.4 was a different matter - Connie had her hand up to her face and the cord wrapped round her neck twice - and that really smarted, shall we say!!!

Still a straight forward birth though.

Am currently preggers with no.5 and hoping this one is as accommodating! lol

My third was ok, the fourth nearly finished us both off! x

buchg6- We are expecting you let us know hoe the third goes :). Everyone has told me the first is worse (it's my first). So if the first is the worst the 3rd is awkward and the 4th is even worse that means that only the second is safe lol. I think when it comes down to it any birth can have problems whether it's your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 5th and there are lots of factors involved but people like using over simplified, scary rules.

I totally agree , there's always someone waiting with a scary horror story , but most births are pretty straight forward and uneventful . Good luck I'm sure your be fine xx
