Ok, so me and OH have been ttc for 6 months now... I think it’s time we seek some help, so what am I asking for when we go in?

I’m 35 now and can’t really afford to wait any longer to seek some help. I just need to check everything is working I guess... my OH has two kids from previous relationship but youngest is 12 now so I’m guessing he should get checked out too? Should we go in together or separately?

I’m totally clueless tbh, and I’m dreading it but I know it’s necessary

Hey I think you should do get some basic checks like blood tests for hormones. I am guessing you haven’t got any children yourself? If so nhs might see you. I have a daughter already and I am 39 but doctor said they won’t do anything yet. This is our 7th cycle TTC.

No children myself no... I saw a consultant about my insanely irregular periods when I was 22 ish (I’m 35 now) and I was literally told ‘come back when you want kids’ As they couldn’t find the problem...

I’ll just go and get some basic tests then, thanks x

This is what we did. I made an appointment and told the GP we were trying and struggling. She booked bloods and an ultrasound for me (this seems to vary depending on area as not all order an ultrasound at this stage). OH made a phone appointment and asked for a sperm test. He picked up the request form from reception and did it at home as he could drop it off at the lab within the hour. He didn't need an appointment for this.

You may not be entitled to fertility treatment on the NHS as you OH already has children but you are entitled to investigations. You should also get these after 6 months of trying as you're over 35. I'm only saying this as lots of ladies on here have had issues being taken seriously by their GP so it's important that you know what you're entitled to.

Once you have the results you can go from there. Hope that helps.
