So what would you change if you could, and how would you change it?

What news items jump out at you as glaringly obvious to fix, if only they would listen!!!

Whats your master plan to fix something wrong with the world? (Come on, everyone has one....share!!)

This could be interesting :)

Off the top of my head....

Animal cruelty and dog attacks....

Dog license's!!! Make them compulsory for each dog you own. You would have to apply for the license, have your dog registered at a vet, have your dog chipped for identification and make you take a common sense test on animal welfare and animal safety.

Speeding causing more and more deaths on our roads....

Make sat nav's compulsory and link them to a system which would automatically fine you if your break the speed limit.

I'm sure I can think of loads more. Is this the type of thing you are talking about GGG?

put more money into suicide prevention

more people end their own lives each year than are killed on britians roads, yet its woefully underfunded, and not much is done to promote good mental health and prevention. Compare that with the millions spent on traffic calming, policing etc.

I'd also like to change the term of government to longer than 5 years, fundementally the problem with all governments is that they have to go for quick fixes, that ensure they get re-elected, whereas most problems have a deeper underlying cause that could take a generation to effectively change!

I would have the Green Party in government and get rid of all the others as I personally find them a bit of a joke, plus I have no real interest in any of their policies.

I would make sure there was enough money to fund important charitable causes, not just rely on donations.

I would up and change prison sentences in some cases. The case of that OAP that served so many days in prison for not paying her council tax was in my eyes disgusting!

I would change council tax rules. I find it unfair that someone on a huge wage still only pays the same amount as someone on a low income.

Brilliant thread hun :D

Oh good thread... :)

Make it so that if people want to have meat for thier dinner they must hunt and kill the animals from their natural habitat and they have to skin and prepare the carcases too.

Hook all the gyms up to the nationnal grid, all trearmills, cross trainers and excersise bikes to put green power back into the NG

The car comapnies should be stopped from making polluting cars and should only make hydro cars from now on.

I'd not have a problem with killing an animal myself, but would feel sorry for little old ladies who can bearly get out of the house let alone go hunting :rotfl: just imagining my nanna with a 12 bore shotgun and a rambo head tie!

I agree that car production should alter its ways also, but instead of people scrapping a perfectly good car, money should be put into making existing cars cleaner. After all something like a prius, never actually nutralises the carbon produced in its production!!! let alone the fact that the batteries can never be recycled.

:rotfl: @ your nanna hunting. Not sure about little old ladies hunting but they definately should be made to take another driving test once they reach a certain age. Some of them can't even see over the stearing wheel

:rotfl: :rotfl: Fair point!! I could actually see my nan doing that (obviously minus the head tie!)

People on a low income have the option to get help with their council tax where as people on a larger income can't, so they dont necessary pay the same amount.

Council tax should be paid by the same system as income tax. The more you earn the more you pay. It costs millions to re-value houses every 10 years, which is a stupid waste of money as theres already a system for tax in place. I think the Lib dems have this policy

I would make all public transport 'break even'. Public transport should not be profit making. The privatisation of our public transport is outrageous  I would revert it back to government control. My OH used to work in London and it cost him £20+ a day on the train. Thats over £400 a month, just to get to work :x There is no incentive to use public transport and yet the government claims to want us all out of our cars yet there is no cheap, clean, on time alternative.

Pubs and clubs would pay towards the policing of our streets on friday and saturday nights. The amount of police in town centres up and down the country on a weekend is astonishing. Fine, the price of drinks would go up, but tough!!

OMG I love it! You should write to your MP with that one Nat, you never know!!!

Some fab ideas here, we definitely need to form our own party

Ok...heres mine,

I would make flexible working hours law, not just an option, enabling many more single parents to return to work once their children are at school.

I would increase PE lessons at school making them compulsory half hour per day, and take out all junk from school meals....not just a "healthy option" but its ALL healthy.

AND I would throw a lot of money into building youth centres in EVERY youth heavy area! They need something to do and somewhere to go, its so obvious!

 to all of them suggestions!

Actually the one about making all school meals healthy reminded me about something that happened the other day. I went to tesco's pharmacy to buy some calpol for Isaac. Firstly she tried to sell me the one for 6+ anyway thats besides the point. When she did find the one I wanted she asked if I wanted sugar free!!!?!!! I felt like saying "na, I want my kids teeth to rot, give me the most sugary one you've got"! :wall:

Anyway sorry, kind of side tracked there

Make it easier for the elderly to live, i think its dreadful that old people are going without food for days on end just so they can have their heating on at night to keep warm.
Up their state pension so they have more to live on instead of starving and going cold.
And make sure that their basic care needs are met.

Here here

I was watching a program on the bridge in SanFransisco (sp) last night and all the suicides off it.....all it would take is someone in plain clothes to walk the bridge every ten minuets or so and if they see anyone who looks destressed to go and talk to them and ask them to go have a cup of tea and a chat. If you are going to jump then you will but if you have the slightest doubt then they are waiting for somone to ask if they are okay I think alot of the suicides could be stopped that way,

I'd make it so that the only way someone can claim benefits is if they have been either a) living in the country for at least 3 years or b) been working for at least a year.

I'd make school dinners like they are in Spain... one three course, home cooked meal... no choices.. either the kids eat it or they go hungry... more often than not Tia will eat the things she doesn't like as she knows she goes hungry.

I'd introduce a recycling system like they have in Finland... where they pay you to return bottles to shops for recycling.... people in Finland are obsessed about recycling bottles... "throwing" a bottle away is an absolute sin.

bring back national service for any girl or boy who is either not in full time education or in a full time job/work placement by the age of 16. National service does not necessarily mean the army, but making them work in old peoples homes, mental hospitals, or homes for the disabled. there is something humbling having to work with people less fortunate than yourselves. In the cases where girls have had their kids young. Then it can be deferred until a later date, unless they go back to college/get a job.

Paedophiles automatically loose all human rights upon committing a crime against a child, and become fair game to the medical profession who do require human test subjects for certain drug trials. Usually these trials are done by volunteers but upon raping a child, you automatically volunteer .

Organ donations are mandatory and its an opt out system. The medical profession do not need to seek permission to take organs upon a patients death, unless the opt out scenario is in play.

As for hunting my own meat... i'd become vegetarian simply because I can't be bothered with all that crap... :rotfl: I'm far too lazy...

I think they are trying to do this. I remember reading this in the news recently
