Probably a dumb question.. :wall2: but on the off chance any ladies might have tried and succeeded with this..!

..Has anyone ever been long term ttc and gone on the pill - then caught in the few months (or even less than a year!) after coming off it? Or know anyone that has?

It's just I'm losing hope.. and if our fet doesn't work out I need a complete break..
If we go ntnp I know for a fact I'm still gonna try symptom spot or convince myself it could have happened and then sneak tests in here and there that are just gonna be bfns. So I feel a complete switch off with no chance I could be pregnant is in order.

I don't really want to go on it then set myself back even further in this awful long journey but a break and maybe a chance of it regulating whatever is wrong (if that's even possible!) would be nice! I guess I'm probably better off talking to my doctor.. but on the off chance I thought I'd post and ask..

I've read few short termers mention they've caught straight away before they've even had a bleed just wondered if maybe it would help!

Took ages for it to get out my system but I have pcos so it masked issues with that for me. Personally I would never use any hormonal birth control again.

It probably won't make you feel any better but I will say it anyway. We go to baby class with a lady who had her first baby last year. She had several rounds of ivf 10 years ago and had given up (was unexplained), her little girl was a total shock. Don't give up hope it will happen. Some of us just have a harder time getting there.

Think positive the fet will work and you won't need a back up plan x

Thanks Snowbee, I'll try to keep positive and worry about it afterwards I guess xx

The pill masked issues for me too so I'm with snowbee - would never use hormonal contraceptives ever again. It wasn't so much that it took a long time to get out of my system in hindsight but I definitely would have noticed problems much sooner and done something about them. I don't think it would have changed the outcome as such but I think we would have been a bit further along on our journey by now.

I think if I was willing to use it as contraception as a means of giving myself a proper break like you said then I'd consider it but I don't think I'd use as a way of trying to catch quickly after stopping. I think you'd just risk building up false hope as there's always stories of people who catch quickly but you don't know if they would have caught anyway.

I think right now, I'd try and stay positive about the fet even though it's hard. I hope my rambling makes sense.
