yes i know!!! thats whay i have never told anyone of my name intentions before the birth that way when i tell everyone that ive maned my baby such and such they just say ''oh that nice'' coz they don't have a fooking choice once its named.

I am with budge i don't tell people coz i don't want their opinion

Dionne......my old dog was called Poppy. too.....I like you didn't care though, I still wanted it as a girls name.....(didn't tell my mom mind as I knew she would say 'but that was the dogs name' - yeah duh!) I really love the name Poppy for a little girl :cheer: I think it is soooo cute! Goes well with our surname too  maybe next time

We went for Libby, as we want something that is relevant to creating the combination of our families for first born, so we have Elizabeth Ann (with Elizabeth shortened to Libby) - that is C's moms middle name, and my moms middle name.

Trixi - I think you should choose your name without thinking about others opinions, and then if you do mention them, and people say 'blah blah blah don't like it', well tough - its not like you're renaming them is it, your naming your baby hun.

As Budge says, maybe don't tell anyone? I have chosen to tell people what we are naming Libby, and most people say 'oh how lovely' I've had a few of unconvincing 'oh thats nice' but I don't really care - she's our daughter so we choose....no one else!

Happy name picking

Ha Ha good thread girlie!!!!!!

Me and my fiancee are ttc.... we always think of names.....

I love Orielle and Orlaith... but our pals who know we are ttc are like bleugh it reminds us of those american biscuit/sweets oreos or whatever they are called

everyone disliked Braydon but i didnt care and now they all like it and think it suits him

My husband is from Holland and I believe that it is considered bad luck over there to tell anyone the names before the baby is born. So people never ask you.

MIL said that this is so people can't do the eugh thing. Thing about this country is from about 7months onwards one of questions people ask you is "Have you got any names yet?"

you'll find that most people will like the name once baby has arrived as every took the rise out of Ewan! but it suits him now and every one likes it.

Nobody liked Thea's name before she was born either. My mam even said - Thea is barely a word let alone a name  They love it now though! Screw them your baby, your right to name as you see fit!

yeah exactly - its YOUR baby and so YOU chose the name - bugger what anyone else says!

If i have a baby boy i want to call him Bayley - most people hate the name but i LOVE it - im not going to listen to them, its nothing to do with them.

:D

i dont care what ppl think. at the end of the day its your baby, not theirs.

ive almost decided on libby for a girl too. ive always loved the name. and thinking of paige for a middle name or mby hyphonated.

Yay :cheer: another Libby....I have to say I love the name too (obviously) :cheer:

Goes really well with Paige too hun :cheer:

thanks emmy :) i noticed you have named your LO libby. good choice eh :D

ETA: i just hope mine is a girl lol. im boogered if its a boy. i have no boy names that i like as much lol

i know how you feel i wanted archie for a boy and cus most of family dont like it OH wont go for it!!!! we have a hard enough time agreeing on names anyway without other ppl stickin there oar in. what i find annoying is when ppl say either "oh thats ded common" or " at school the fat kid/class bully/ geeky kid was named that" SSSSOOOOOOO!!! sorry rant over lol. xxxxx
