I was pleased to read through this thread, cos I've been umming and aahing about what to do about nappies.
My sisters are about 12 and 13 years younger than I am, so I was lucky enough to be able to look after them a bit when they were babies, which included changing their terry nappies. They seemed happy, and it was easy enough - the only thing I remember is one of them crying for no apparent reason once, and me being worried that one of the nappy safety pins had come undone amd so constantly checking (it hadn't!).
I would like to use re-usable nappies for all teh good reasons that have already been named - I just need to do some research as to what's out there (thanks for the real nappy campaign link - v useful!)
I read somewhere that it's a good idea to have disposables for the first few days, since new-born baby poo is different and hard to get out of re-usables. Does this seem like good advice to other people?
I am so looking forward to finally meeting this little baby in a few months - and love getting ready for her. I do tend to get a little bit caught up in 'getting it right' (like getting the 'right' nappy system), but I guess there's no problem about changing your mind if something doesn't work out!
