Hi All,

I did a search but most of the previous threads seem to be about whether to use one or not.

I intent to use one, but wondered if some are better than others or are they all the same? I saw Debecca used the "Elle" brand and Boots comes up alot.

Any brand recommendations? I don't mind either hiring or buying.

Thanks

Lisa

I got one from my MW last time, it was a fiver I think.

this time I left it too late and had to hire one from boots for 30 quid, it was really complicated and I kept accidentely turning it up and off when in labour, it was quite frustrating.
Maybe it'd be easier if you had lots of practice but TBH I prefered the basic one.

Not sure how this one compares with the others on the market but I have hired one from www.mama-tens.co.uk

I asked the midwife at the hospital which one they recommended and she said they are all the same.

I tried to find comparisons but for obvious reasons they are hard to review :D

This website was the only one I could find:
http://www.tipslimited.com/TENSresults.htm

so I got the Elle as that's what it recommended.

It seems fairly straight forward but I haven't tried it yet :D

I got mine on offer with many advantage points from Boots so it only cost me £60 including delivery and 2 extra sets of electrodes (for OH's sister who is due a little after me and to have spares too. You don't need lots of extra sets).

I decided to buy because I didn't want the hassle of remembering to return it after the birth, I'll want it for my next pregnancy and it costs as much to hire twice as it does to buy, I can lend it to OH's sister for her labour next month and I can also resell it for a good price on ebay. They sell for abour £40 second hand so I can use it lots for a total price of £20 :D I'll also be able to use it for PGP (what used to be called SPD) after the birth. I wish I could use it now!!!

my OH's mum has one which i'll borrow, i'll get it within the next couple of days so i'll have a play round and see what it's like :)

Boots have a bit of an offer on TENS at the moment. if you join their health living club you get a TENS for half RRP of 39.99.

I don't know if there are any stipulations to joining, I'm going to enquire about it soon.

Just a thought - remember you should use ones designed for use in labour or they will not be nearly as effective. Labour ones have 4 pads whereas most other ones tend to have 2 pads.
