Ellies not been well so we've been told to keep a check on her temp, ive noticed that one ear seems to be alot higher than the other most of the time... just checked and one was 37.2 and the other 35.9 do its quite a big difference? Why is this, could it be indicating an ear infection or is it normal?

 not too sure hun our themometer is usually a little bit different in each ear but that is a lot emma is currently getting over an ear infection and her temp was a little different from ear to ear. hope she gets better soon

the problem with reading the temperature through the ear drum is that if there is any waxy build up in the ear or fluid...there will be an alteration in the temperature between ears. Its really common to have this though and doesn't necessarily indicate an ear infection. Although if the poor lil thing has a sore throat then her Eustachian tubes could be inflammed...always take the higher reading as the actual temp...or use a rectal thermometer...but if you are like me that makes you go...:puke:

If you GP has advised calpol hun...just keep giving it to her.. using calpol under GP supervision for a couple of weeks is far less harmful than febrile convulsions
