Went for a midwife appointment today, she was reading my notes about the blood tests, she said everything was great until she got to the Syphilis results and it said reactive, so my blood has been sent to a special lab for further testing.

At this point i was brimming with tears and she said this often happens and it is usually a false positive which they prove with the further testing.

At this stage i couldnt hold the tears (still cant am crying now) so she phoned the lab and asked if they had the results which they didnt so i have got to wait until the end of the week :(

She said its not a big deal if i have it, i just had to have injections in my leg every day for 10 days and it wont pass through the placenta to the baby so its perfectly safe, i just feel dirty now i dont know how this could of happened i have been with my husband for 5 years and have been totally faithful, my husband was a virgin when we met and i know he would never have cheated on me so i dont understand how this has happened.

Dont blame yourself, these things happen more than people realise.
At least you know that even if you have got it, it wont hurt LO.
you'll just have the treatment and then you and your oh will be fine and will never have to chack for these things again. At least you've found out so can get rid of it.
It feels like a long wait but will all soon be over :)

Aww hun!
Well hopefully its a false result like the mw said! But if not babs will be fine so try not to worry!
It is odd though, you should ask how it is possible etc! There may be other ways to come into contact with it!??

aww hun, dont feel bad about it if it is positive. Its probably one of those things which can lie dormant for ages. I was "silly" once and ended up getting the HPV. No symptoms but showed up in a smear. The nurse said it was really common but i still felt dirty and like id slept around (even though i hadnt in the slightest!). Was in a 7 year relationship!

Try not to worry,

Claire x

Thanks peeps, feel a bit better just waiting for that phone to ring now, will let you all know the outcome.

 Bloody hell I can imagine your worry, Im sure it will be ok

I once went to family planning and they swore blind I would have an STD when I knew I could not... they even stated that my hubby had probably cheated   (It came back -ve)

Try to stay calm and wait for the results if you get a dreaded +ve, it sounds like its easy to treat and there will probably be a rational explination.
