Emms is having her last injections on Monday and then OH has taken the day off next Friday and we are going swimming with her! I am so excited!!

What are other people's swimming experiences with little babs? My sis bought her a cute little costume which is pink with strawberries on it. I put it on her last night and she looks so gorgeous! I also managed to get myself a costume in the sales as I chucked my bikinis away as I dont think my stomach will be seeing the light of day for some time!!

We want to get an inflatable that we can float her around in the pool - does anyone have any suggestions for good ones?

its fab!! connor loves it - he's got a wetsuit so he doesn't get cold. i tend to find he's had enough after about 20 minutes though. he's starting ducklings swimming lessons in september and i can't wait :D

you know you don't have to wait for jabs to finish to take your LO swimming though?

hope you have a fab time!!

the baby pool at our local swimming pool is 'closed until further notice' :x

could take her to the normal pool but I always think it's a bit chilly. Can't wait to take her though - think she'll love it.

Oliver loves going swimming - I just put him in a swim nappy as we only stay in for about 30-40mins. The toddler & baby session at my pool have floats out for you to use & a wave machine too.

I've been taking him every week since he was about 3.5months. He doesn't even mind having his hair washed in the showers afterwards. :D :cheer:

We have been going almost every 2 weeks since he was 4 months old. He loves it but we are only in the water for about 20 mins. xxx

I'd love to take Luke swimming. I think he'd really enjoy it!

I took Angel to one of ours a couple of weeks ago. I went to the one with a baby pool. Cost a fortune to get in and the pool was freezing. Within seconds her hands and feet went blue and she was shivering. We were in and out in 5 mins! Took longer for us to get changed than we were in the pool. And to be honest, if i went without a baby i still wouldn't have stopped! The pool was ridiculously cold! Apparently if i went earlier that day it was mother and baby and they turn the temperature up! I'll go elsewhere in future!
She loves her bath so i'm sure if i find a warm pool she'll love it.

We went swimming today and she absolutely LOVED it! She has a baby wetsuit (babywarma) but the water was surprisingly warm anyway. Our local pool closed down (the roof fell in!) and the new one doesn't open until next year so we had to travel quite a bit. Going back in 2 weeks! She had a sort of baby seat blow up ring thing but preferred more to float on her back (one of us supporting her head) or kicking when on her front with my hands supporting her chest. They have bubble beds on the side of the pool and she found them especially entertaining! Think she liked the taste of chlorine or something because her tongue was constantly hanging out :rotfl:

We'll start lessons in September too, but I am keen to take LO swimming before that.

Let us know how you get along.

Daftscottslass - can't believe that the roof of your local pool fell in!!!! Good tip about the wetsuit...

I will let you know how it goes on Friday. Maybe get a photo on as well! Cant wait to see if she's a water baby or not! She loves baths so hopefully she'll like it. :D

Eva love love LOVES swiming, we went today, she has a baby wetsuit for the public pool and we stay in about 20 mins but she also has 30min lessons in a hydrotherapy pool in term-time where she is taught to go under and 'fall in' safely etc Its brill and she is getting so good at holding her breath, and she really relaxes. Have fun, swimming is awesome with a baby!

Hi

I was thinking of taking my boy swimming but what do they wear in the pool do i get swim nappys and put trunks over the top ? im confused :?

clarey we take Dan to swimming lessons in a hydrotherapy pool too. He loves it and has learnt so much. We start stage 3 in steptember. I've got some great under water photos from it. Must scan them in!

Ooh cool, thats the only thing with the classes we do they are cheaper than the Waterbabies and other such brands but they dont do a photo sesh at the end of term and you arent allowed to take cameras in to the public baths apparently :? I would love some pics once she is diving properly!

Depends on the temperature of the water. We had Becky in a swim nappy and baby wetsuit. I think the water was warm enough that she didn't really need the wetsuit - I was very surprised with the temperature.

Here's a little pic of me and Emms today! She loved it, and we had a really nice time. The water was lovely and warm and she just loved looking round and being in the water. Yay we will make it a regular thing now . . .

We just used it as it is and it was fine. We were in the pool about half an hr.

OH is buying a special baby rubber ring for next time!
