Sweep!!

Hi girls

Hope your all well. Just spoke to my midwife as I've been getting on and off cramping for days now and its really getting me down. I'm due a week tomorrow and midwife has said she'll do a sweep for me tomorrow to try and get things going. Has anyone had this done? Any success?

My consultant tried one today but couldnt do it because my cervix was too high.

I do know a few people on here and some friends from home all went into labour following a sweep, apparently its very successful.

iv got my 40 week midwife appointment 2morrow..do you think she'll offer me a sweep then or maybe wait another week??

she might offer you one. If you want one you should ask, worst she can do is say no! lol. i'm gonna ask for one at 40+3 - as id be 41+3 before she'd do it otherwise and i want my homebirth so it needs to happen before too long! lol

I would think they would do one for you, I got one today (failed so no popping just yet for me) and I have another 2 days till my date.

I asked my midwife last week at what stage will I be offered a sweep and she said that usually a few days around before due date (if you are booked to see MW at that point) and then anytime there after.

funny how every area is dfferent i( mind i havnt lost any muscus plug like you have) know my mid wife wouldnt give me one as everything is fine with me and baby and to be honest i'm ok with not having one he can come out on his own

Hello girls

Just back from sweep! It doesnt hurt at all - I'm 1cm dilated and my cervix is soft!!! She could also feel my baby's head - cant believe it. Anyway, she cleared more plug and now I just have to wait.

Will see if anything happens!
