I must eat it now!!!!

I ave a craving, and its all I want to eat, only the tesco in Beccles is rubbish, and doesnt sell any. Can I get it on mail order from anywhere?

Marks and Spencer don't do a bad selection? Got one close?

Boots sell it as part of their meal deals at lunchtime- they do a couple of different selections.

I used to eat it every day before BFP but just don't fancy it now :(

I was told no sushi when I was pregnant. I craved it soo much, made OH take me to Oh Sushi and spend a fortune to make up fopr 9 months of abstinance.

Yeah its raw fish its a definate NO NO when pg!

The stuff in boots does not contain raw fish- is tuna etc, so should be ok. I think the stuff in M&S is the same.

Hi,

I love sushi, But not all sushi is raw fish. Only sashimi is raw. The supermarket stuff is just tuna/smoked salmon etc.

Anyway i doubt supermarkets would sell raw sushi for fear getting complaints from food poisoning etc, it has to be really fresh, like it is when its from a sushi restaurant. It would go off too quick to be in a supermarket.

can someone tell me if im allowed fresh trout, got a craving for phili and trout on a bagel

Yeah, the sushi I ate last week, was tuna, smoked salmon, omlette, and one with a tiger prawn (tbh I have been eating prawns anyway!)

Although yesterday I ate a panini with Brie in without thinking

I called round everywhere trying to get sushi yesterday and failed, so I will get OH to stock up for me when he goes to work tomorrow.

loulou trout is fine, all cooked fish is fine, and recomended during pregnancy as part of a balanced diet.

I thought swordfish and things with lots of mercury were a big no no cooked or not cooked? And also not too much tuna..

Oh I think your right on the sordfish, as for tuna, the mercury is very trace, so its debatable, I think your just advised to avoid more than 4 tins a week!

my midwife said im allowed ONE tin of tuna a week...

I'd say 2 tins a week, thats what ive always read and been old, but tbh im not a fish fan so its not and issue for me

i only seem to craev the stuff im not allowed!!! lol

i have tbh, not followed all the restrictions

I just got this info from the Food Standards Aency Website

Is it OK to eat sushi when I'm pregnant?
It’s fine to eat sushi when you’re pregnant as long as any raw fish used to make it has been frozen beforehand. This is because occasionally fish contains small worms, which could make you ill if they are still alive when you eat the fish. Freezing kills worms and makes raw fish safe to eat.

Lots of the sushi sold in shops is bought in already made, not made at the shop. This type of sushi should be fine to eat, because if a shop or restaurant buys in ready-made sushi, the raw fish used to make it must have been frozen at minus 20°C for at least 24 hours.

But if a shop or restaurant makes its own sushi on the premises, the fish might not have been frozen. If you’re concerned, ask the staff.

If you make your own sushi at home, freeze the fish for at least 24 hours before using it.

I've heard that pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid some types of fish. Why is this?
You can eat most types of fish when you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Eating fish is good for your health and the development of your baby. But you should avoid some types of fish and limit the amount you eat of some other types.

When you're pregnant or planning to get pregnant, you shouldn't eat shark, swordfish or marlin. You should also limit the amount of tuna you eat to no more than two tuna steaks (weighing about 140g when cooked, or 170g raw) or four medium-size cans of tuna a week (with a drained weight of about 140g per can).

This is because these fish contain more mercury than other types of fish. The amount of mercury we get from food isn't harmful for most people, but if you take in high levels of mercury when you're pregnant this could affect your baby's developing nervous system. When you're breastfeeding you don't need to avoid shark, swordfish or marlin, or limit the amount of tinned tuna you eat.

When you're pregnant, you should generally avoid having more than two portions of oily fish a week, such as salmon, trout, mackerel and herring, because it can contain pollutants such as dioxins and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls).

Remember that fresh tuna is an oily fish, so if you eat two fresh tuna steaks in one week, you shouldn't eat any other oily fish that week. Tinned tuna doesn't count as oily fish, so you can eat this on top of the maximum of two portions of oily fish (as long as it's not fresh tuna or swordfish). But remember not to eat more than four medium-sized cans of tinned tuna a week when you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

There is no need to limit the amount of white fish you eat when you're pregnant or breastfeeding, apart from shark and marlin.

Sorry to be the little voice in your ear... but speaking as someone who has just had food poison and my baby lost it's heartbeat around the same time??? who knows???? I wouldn't take any chances..... If in doubt leave it out... I don't care how bad the cravings are!! or how much i love a certain food. I wouldn't chance it..... i don't know if that was the cause of my losing my baby, but i think it was. My brother is a bio-chemist, works with viruses and cells everyday. He told me that bacterial infections are a cause for MC... Anyway , please ladies don't take risks. it really isn't worth it and you would never forgive yourself if something went wrong.. sorry to be doom and gloom.... take care and have a happy healthy PG with a happy healthy baby at the end  lv Yvonne x

id today i can eat fresh trout and salmon as its the best type of fish for me so thats my craving sorted, also the tuna tins they are on about are the larg ones
