hi ladies
quick question abt this sure start maternity grant, do I get it?I work part time, does everyone get it? I was confused when reading about it direct.gov
any help would b great :)

U have to be getting some sort of benefit-if u don't qualify for it now u may qualify once baby is here and ur getting tax credits x

No SMP does not count. You need to be on JSA, Income Support or Working Tax Credit xx

do you know how i can claim working tax credits? x

I'm not totally sure but you work don't you? I know you can claim child tax credits after baby is here. Hmmm sorry that's crap advice. Have a look on the benefits site. I'm sure one of the girls will be able to help.
X

If u don't have any children then u have to be over 25 and workin 30+ hours if ur single or as a couple ur combined hours must be 30+ (I think).
If u've got kids then household income must b less than about £40,000 to qualify.

Give them a ring (number on hmrc website) or pop into jobcentre xx

Oh ok, so once the baby is born I will be able to claim both working tax credits and sure start? as there will only be my income.

i dont get it we are on income support but as we have a child under 16 in the home already we dont qualify
if you have no other children and you get enough child tax credit once the baby is here you can claim up until 3 months after the baby is born

Yeah if your baby is due after April 11 2011 then you can only get it if its your first child or the other child is over 16. You have to be on a certain working tax creds to qualify higher element or something but I think everyone gets that up to a baby been 12 months old so if you dont qualify before baby is born you should qualify after baby is born you have 3 months to apply. x

just wondering if any1 knows i have sent off for the grant while waiting to change over from jsa to income support i signed off jsa on the 8th signed on income support on the 9th and sent sure start form on the 15th will this affect my chances of getting the grant if so can i reaply when income is up and running thanks.
