well...

I am pretty sure my breastfeeding days are numbered......sad to say.

But i can be very proud that I have done almost 6 weeks against all odds....when everyone thought that i wouldnt be able to produce any milk cos of the blood loss etc...I think though that my recovery have been severely hampered because of the breastfeeding (or so the GP said) but I am happy that I managed to give my LO my milk while she was in special care and she has had the first few important weeks from me.

I do now think that my body is fighting so hard to try and make me better that milk production has taken a second seat...i have tried everything...

feeding off one boob til empty, but then also feeding off other boob to stimulate.....making sure I express if we miss a feed (ie doing a bottle)....been eating well, drinking plenty and taking pregnacare and raspberry leaf ta capsules...

I expressed earlier and from my right one, I got literally less than 5ml in 30 mins and when she is on there, she gets bored after 5 mins...so I just know that not much is coming out......

my left one is better, but even so...a few weeks ago i would get out 40ml in 5 or 10 mins..and today i got about 20ml in about 45 mins.....

I am going to carry on and not give up just yet.......plus i am loving the weight loss (selfishly!!)....

xx

You should be really proud to have got to six weeks! Would say fenugreek is worth a try - I started taking the capsules on Friday and have seen an improvement in my supply already.

I think you've done super brilliantly to go this long with how poorly you've been. She's had the best start from you and that's all you could ask for

I too had a massive heamorage, infection and pre eclampsia after having baby and I too struggle with the milk supply coz of ill health. I am now giving alternate bottles so that I can build up my supply for the feeds that Ibf for. Might be worth trying before you stop it completely!!

yeah, that is kind of what we are doing :) x

Well done on six weeks; if found they were definitely the hardest. I experienced a drop around the five week mark and then every four weeks after that. I read somewhere that it could be to do with your milk dropping when your period is due. I know they say you dont get AF when BF, but I did from week five and then every 28 days. Its especially difficult when your LO is going through a growth spurt if they co-incide.

Lots and lots of water and healthy eating helped me (i think). Keep up the good work. I found that after a lul the milk came back with a vengeance.

Thanks for everyone's replies and support xxx

Well done on managing so many people would have given up. As some of the other girls have said fenugreek is worth a shot, it's certainly helped with my supply.

so far today ive only given alyssa 1 formula feed, and we now have drops for her eye. how you doin darlin? x

Fed up of being in pain! And fed up of moaning about being in pain! Lol. Six weeks on almost and I still feel shocking!!! Xx

tell me about it lol. i feel lucky that i feel fine most of the time but couldnt take the iron tablets anymore. lumps of coal werent meant to have to come out of me lol. i did almost wet myself earlier too lol. was bursting for a pee when i got home and had to get baby out the car etc so i was pretty desperate. must remember to do more pelvic floors lol

I find the uncontrollable farting the funniest and most embarrassing side effect. Lol xx
