Has anyone brought sun cream for the little ones??? I was thinking about it today when i went out with kacy took her coat off then her blanket cos she was to hot (had the parsol over her) but that doesn't cover all of her from the sun, and i thought if i don't put her blanket back over her her little legs will burn.

So if you have brought some which type did you buy for them???

I got Nivea Sun baby Sun lotion ultra (50+). It was 10.99 but in Boots they are doing 2 for the price of 1. It was so tough though to find one that was factor 50 as the rest were all 30

I got Banana Boat 50+ and it was $12 (halve it for pounds) the most expensive suncream there was and it is specially for babies.

It says on the back to consult a doctor if your baby is under 6 months. I have already used it lol, only on his face so far. I don't think I will be putting it on his hands though as he is eating them all the time.

Can sunscreens be used on babies and young children?

We have no evidence to suggest that sunscreens are harmful to young children when used in small amounts on the face and hands. Their skin, however, is more likely than an adult's to absorb the ingredients in the sunscreens, and the rest of their body is best protected with clothing* rather than sunscreen. Babies under 6 months old should be kept out of the sun altogether.

This is my problem the weather here will be around 30C+ with humidity this summer. What am I suppose to do, not go out??? I really can't win with the weather here :(

I will probably get this (mosquito netting): http://www.macklems.com/perego-accessories.htm Hopefully it will protect Kai against the sun as well as I don't think the raincover will.

tell me about it! i always struggle to find any! my skin is so fair i always have to use the baby suncreams with factor 50 in the summer myself, so now ruben and i can use the same one! lol

I just phoned up, mosquito netting is $65  and doesn't protect against the sun. I will probably get some sort of cover.

I think it is a bit unrealistic to think we can completely keep them out of the sun. You have the correct strength suncream and I remember that little orange suit and that seemed great for the summer. Don't worry too much, I think they say that so people don't keep their babies in the sun for too long if you know what I mean.

Hi,

I've just bought one of these:-

http://www.shade-a-babe.co.uk/

I got in on ebay for £29. Quite a lot I guess but then I thought it would save me on some suncream and I have a parasol but it's rubbish- keeps bobbing around when I turn corners wherever I place it. We go out most days for long walks as he tends to sleep better when being pushed and I try to get out too so I figured it was worth it. So far so good- the canopy bit blocks out 99% of the sun when it has the mesh under it and yesterday on the way home the sun was right on him so I had the full net down and it was pretty good- he can still see out (I tried it on over my head!) but he's nicely shaded. Apparently it acts as a bit of a wind and light shower break but that hasn't happened yet. Will see how it goes!

Rosebay thanks for posting that link, I'm going to get one for Olivia's pushchair because she'll be really exposed when she's old enough for it (Quinny Buzz).

Cheers

Lucy

I have a few outfits like that, quite a few romper suits. But not many hats, hard to find ones that fit! Kai seems to have a small head.
