Hi everybody!!
Hope you are all keeping well or as well as you can.

I would really appreciate any good suggestions or tips on how to ease or combat heartburn. Suffering and it has been keeping me awake some nights.

Any ideas will be much appreciated

Thanks

Beth

I just answered another post like this so i copied and pasted from there!

try not to eat anything that will aggravate acid more ie spicy or greasy foods and acidic like tomato or citric fruits/juices. Bland is best..mashed potato, plain chicken, rice..etc (crap boring diet i know :-() you can take gaviscon and drink cold drinks like water..milk makes it worse too!

I suffered from about 6 weeks and the moment I gave birth it disappeared.

Go to your docs and get Gaviscon on prescription, it will work in the beginning but towards the back end I became immune to it. Sparkling water worked very well for me and spicy foods made it better for some strange reason. Salad made it pretty bad, my midwife basically told me that anything that was harder to digest would make it worse, who'd have thought salad of all things!

I take gaviscon advance as prescribed by the doctor, I get the pain so badly it goes into my shoulder and neck!!!

The Gaviscon definitely relieves it a little.......Rennies are also safe to take (even says for pregnancy heartburn on the packet).

Hi

I had it all the way through last time, like Charlie it stopped when baby popped out! I used rennies cos the taste of gavisgon makes me wanna :puke: :puke:

ditto!! i have been prescribed gaviscon now too,the pain goes to my neck and in between my shoulders,i was in tears with it the other night and did not know what to do with myself!
the gaviscon does help though! luckily i have not had it that bad again since. :cheer:

Ditto what everyone has said! Gaviscon on prescription. Also like fran said about keeping to a blander diet, if I drink orange juice I get heartburn (pregnant or not!)

Gaviscon, what a lifesaver that was for me in the 3rd trimester last time!

Sleep sitting up and have a big bottle of the good stuff by the bed (Gaviscon, not whiskey) Dietary changes never made the blindest bit of difference to me. It was the only thing I hated about pregnancy last time. I feel your pain

Gaviscon, Milk.

Try not to each acidic/spicy foods that'll make it worse.

Sleeping a certain way in bed can help, i can't sleep on my left side or the heartburn is really bad :(

xx

not milk it makes it worse...I think i need to do one big bold sticky in every trimester saying

WARNING: DO NOT drink milk or yoghurt if you have heartburn..it makes it worse!!!
and thats come from a doctor who has acid reflux.
