Ok....so I need some advice. With my first, I wasn't able to successfully bf exclusively. I tried nursing, but had to give her formula to top her up (she was low birthweight and wasn't gaining weight fast enough). I remember I was told to use nipple cream to help me, but no one ever said when to use it or how?. I feel really really stupid for asking, but do you use it before, after, or need to wipe it off before feeding? All I know is that it's recommended. I never had pain issues with feeding last time, but I think it's because I didn't feed for long.

Lansinoh is the best. Slather it on after the feed and there's no need to take it off before feeding. If your nipples are sticking to your bra or super sore then put cling film on top!!!

You may be lucky and not get sore though :-)

You don't need to use it at all if you don't get sore nipples. I remember I only used some during my second breast feeding week, then I didn't need use any.

Thanks. I remember using it because I was told to, but thinking that I didn't really need it (as I had no pain). I think I'll have some on hand, just in case... But only a small tube.

Thanks again for the info. I feel so silly for having to ask lol

I was actually told not to use it as it makes latching more difficult, resulting in further pain

I use the lanolin one, it made the first few days so much easier as it saved my nipples from 'drying out' when they were sore. Works pretty fast so by the next feed your ready to go again. You can also rub abit of your milk and let it air dry x
