I have very mild pcos. doctor said to keep trying and if I'm not pregnant by april I will get sent to specialists. Is there anything I can by myself to sort the problem (taking anything/cutting out anything from my diet)

for the first time in 11 months I'm now wishing desperately for af so I can start bding again.

I called hubby to tell him and he was RELIEVED!! I think I talked it down a bit as I didn't want to worry him too much - think I might have talked it down too much though!!

sorry to hear that hun. wait till you can talk to him at home and tell him how you feel.

big big hugs to you

Sorry to hear you were diagnosed with PCOS but mild PCOS is not as bad as severe PCOS and loads of women got pregnant! yes cutting on your diet definitely helps. You also need to check that your BMI is normal and if you can exercice a little that should also help.

I read that spearmint tea helped women with PCOS become pregnant. It was a medical study they did on a number of women and the results were very good. I can send you the link if you want.

I know it's still possible to get pregnant but it's just a bit of a shock and I feel so disappointed in my body :(

My bmi is normal and I do some exercise (dancing, walks etc) and I will do more - got a trampline and ex. bike in the garage that I use once a week too.

spearmint tea makes me :puke:
"cutting on your diet" I'm confused

Hi honey  's xxx
Try not to let it upset you too much. I know its a shock but it's only mild so its not that bad.
Keep bding is my biggest piece of advise Rose. That egg can be released at any time, you dont need to have an AF 1st. My sister has it mild too and she didn't have an AF for 6 months, she was due to start a different lot of tablets in December 07 but to take them you must do a pg test to make sure 100% your not pg and she was, she had no idea and when scanned she was 7 weeks! So you must keep up with the sex life babe, very very important!
Just like to add little Ollie was born in August and is a handsome little man, so all is not lost Rose

OH, honey!   Trust me, it's not the end of the world. I have severe PCOS and I'm learning to live with it. There are loads of things you can do and things you can eat and things you should avoid, etc etc. Avoid all dairy, sugary foods & bready things (including cereal - I usually have a bowl of oatmeal in the morning for breakfast, on the weekends I have eggs & bacon). Your best friend right now is meat & veg (except for potatoes - too high GI), brown rice, and waterwaterwater! One of the problems with PCOS is that you have an estrogen dominance problem, which could have caused your multiple + opks this cycle as your LH will be abnormally raised as well. Basically, the cysts secrete testosterone which your system converts to estrogen, so you end up with too much of it, and it supresses the FSH in your system longer than it should and causes you not to ovulate. This is what causes the multiple patches of fertile cm as well. The organs responsible for getting rid of excess hormones are your liver and kidneys, so drinking lots of water and eating healthily will help them to work as they should. I'm also taking milk thistle for my liver and agnus castus to help regulate things, though I didn't start either of those until this cycle. I started taking them both together on CD42 as well as eating properly (Xmas really threw my system for a loop); if you look at my chart, you can see that's when my bbt calmed WAY down. Regular exercise is supposed to be a MAJOR help with pcos as well; I'm looking forward to the benefits of that one in the not-too-distant future!

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about anything!

no cereal?! but i LOVE cereal!

thanks for the advice. will tel hubby to ban all those things from me if he sees me trying to sneak them in my gob!

I am sorry to hear your bad news Rose,

I know nothing about pcos, so I can't offer any advice, but a friend of mines sister has pcos very bad and she did manage to have a baby, he is 2 weeks older than my daughter. (2 yrs 3 months)

I know it doesn't help you much right now, but I hope that knowledge will birng you some comfort soon

omg I know; me too!! It was a tough thing to give up, but actually, now that I'm in the habit of just having some oatmeal, I'm really enjoying it a lot more than I enjoyed the cereal. I don't put any milk on top, I just pour some boiling water in (I like it mushy) and then stir in some honey or some jam - it's lovely! Highly recommended. :)

sorry to hear this rose

i don't know much about PCOS (sorry for being so ignorant..) but from what the girls are saying it sounds like you still have a very good chance of a BFP

lots of cuddes to you xxx

sorry to hear this rose and i know how your feeling. it can be such a relief to have an answer but so depressing at the same time that there is a problem. melissa as always has given u good advice. my best friends sister was diagnosed with pcos and she has recently given birth to a healthy little girl- it is very possible!!
xxxx

melissa - oatmeal like porridge? is it not dead watery and thin using water?

I only put enough on to make it mushy; I don't put on water like you'd put on milk, if that makes sense. Oatmeal...porridge...potato...po-tah-to. Sorry; my American-ness coming out there.

so you use less water to make it than you use milk - then obviously dry (without milk on the top.)

Hi Rose, sorry to hear your results but like the girls say keep positive. I don't know much about pcos at all but Mel and the others seem to have loads of good advice to help you x x x Big hugs hun

Yeah, I guess you could call it dry. I only put enough water on to make it a bit sticky/pasty, and then I stir in the jam or honey and just eat it in lumps. That doesn't sound terribly appetizing, but I think it's quite nice!
