Does anybody else's LO have one of these? It's a birthmark that is normally bright red in colour and it grows for a few months before having a "rest period" and then shrinks before disappearing. Eva's appeared as what looked like a bruise on her right eyebrow when she was 5 weeks and now it's quite big and still purple like a bruise. She's got a hospital appointment in Feb because the doc was concerned about it being so close to her eye.

She's a beautiful little girl and I don't notice it obviously because I'm used to it being there, but I'm really aware of people looking at her when we're out and about because it's the first thing you'd notice if you'd never seen her before iykwim. I know it'll go again and I'm lucky to have an otherwise healthy baby, but I'm sad that she'll have this in all her baby pictures. I just hope for her sake it's gone by the time she starts school :(

Yawny pic lol. It's grown quite a lot since this pic was taken a couple of weeks ago.

Arianna has one on her chest (right breast), when she was born it was pillar box red and about the size of a 10p piece. I was really worried about it, but the HV adviced it would get bigger and then eventually disapear all together by the time she was 5yrs old at the very most.

Sure enough, it did get bigger, but has shrunk down to hardly anything, about the size of my pinky nail... it will go eventually

My little sister had one on the back of her neck, it grew a little bit and was in a heart shape strangely,, but then it stopped growing and shrank i think it was there but only very faint for a while and had gone totally by the time she was 18 months old. I wouldnt worry about people looking or anything while you are out hun because they are quite common, i have seen lots of little babies about with them or other blotchy marks..its common for little ones to have red blotches or birthmarks on there faces so people are used to it, they just see the gorgeous baby not the birthmark! If anyone is staring its probably at the gorgeous newborn but because you are aware of the birthmark you automatically think of that iykwim..don't worry it will fade and shrink

Dan had one on his tummy that appeared a few months after he was born. It grew quite large and very red but has almost gone now :)
