We've already been discharged from the midwife so before pestering her  I thought I'd see what you guys know.

Basically I had to be cut during the delivery of our son but I suspect that I tore anyway :wall: Nobody has gone into details with me and I'm not 100% sure as I was off my face (on gas and air) during the actual birth

Anyway my stitches got pulled about the same time I arrived home (4days after) and it was almost impossible to sit down so MW checked them for me and suggested tea tree oil in the bath and ibeprofen(sp?). That cleared up and I was fine for several days but the last 3 days or so I'm now having another problem :(

The cut itself has healed fine but I think I tore towards my 'back passage' and the area used to be flat and it now has a small lump of tissue between the two areas. There's obviously a nerve in there as I can feel it when I touch against it...it's sensative but not sore or anything
At first I thought it was just swollen and would go down but it hasn't and now the last 3 days or so it's rubbing on my maternity and sanitary towels and has made the whole area around it and my 'back passage' red and quite tender (especially towards the end of the day if I've been sitting down a lot on my pads).
I've also noticed that I've been passing a lot of wind daily and having regular stools but 'that area' feels very tight compared to what it was  It definately feels smaller and it's slightly uncomfortable when I do need to pass something because my bodies just not used to it :wall: There's never been any pain or constipation there since the birth though.

I'm basically wondering if they have maybe stitched me up slightly wrong  ???

Has anyone else has a similar experience??

I'm finding it a little upsetting that the area is no longer flat because when we finally come to being intimate again my husband will definately be able to tell :( I'm just not used to it and it feels ugly. It's definately not infected or anything though.

Im not a whole lot of help i afraid but i have a lumpy bit where i got cut with Cam and to be honest nobody i have slept with since has noticed.
Mines was never sore tho so perhaps get the midwife to have a look as its not uncommon to be stitched up too tight

i would get the mw to check hon, also get DH down to the chemist for some distilled witchazel, its a gentle cleanser so is good for putting on loo roll to keep everything clean when you wipe, you can also put it on the maternity pads...its really cool and soooooooo soothing, really helped me..i had a 2nd deg tear.

It should be on your notes what was done exactly, i only found out the extent of the tear when i asked, although i knew it was pretty bad as it took over 40 mins to stitch...longer than i was in the delivery room giving birth!

Midwife took my notes last week

Yeah a student was stitching me up under instruction by the surgeon. Baby was born at 9.55pm and I didn't get out of theatre until 10.30pm+ ....that much I know
There was also talk of doing the muscles layers one at a time....??

sounds like a 2nd deg tear if its gone down to the muscle...mine was stiched in 3 layers...why do they have to talk about it when they are doign it??? haha last thing you need to hear..on the plus side i felt almost completely healed within 3 weeks

I really don't know what i was like before but it did take me early 8 weeks to feel 'normal' again. Sometime i can still feel where i was stitched as the skin pulls. I wish now that I had let someone check as I was in agony for weeks.

I used to put salt in the bath and i poured water over myself everytime i went to the loo.

It's probably worth getting checked just so you know that everything is ok :)

I too have no idea what really happened with my stitching. No one told me but it took ages to stitch me up and i had stitches everywhere.
xxxxx
