Does anyone know if it is still safe to be swimming in the final weeks?

I had heard that you can dilate a bit long before you go into labour, and wondered if this meant you would get an infection from the water in the pool?

Should I wait until i get a show and then stop?

I still love being in the water (and have planned a water birth as a result) but don't want to do it if it is not safe anymore.

im not sure on that hun, but i do know not to wait untill you have a show, some woman dont have a show untill they are well in to labour so waiting for it might be a mistake if the water can cause an infection.

best check it out with your doc/midwife.

saying that mind, when i did aqua natel classes, there was a woman there still going at 41 weeks, so it must be ok?

perfectly safe as long as your waters haven't gone yet! i go to aquanatals, and there's ALWAYS someone who is overdue there! lol

hope i won't be one of them!!

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought of the ante-natal class thing.

I will still keep going then :D

I was swimming right up to the end of my pregnancy and I know people that swam when overdue!!!!

Go for it, the more active you are the easier the labour apparently!

I love aquanatal but i've had to miss the last few weeks for different reasons. need to get back into it - you do feel better when you do more excercise!
